All time favourite has to be the twisty one at the corner topped with #lion of St Mark the Evangelist though (pls click).

In the transept is an organ case of 1676, enlarged in 1891 & modified in 1932, with trumpeting angels.

Tynemouth Station, Tyne and Wear

A King George V box.

The North Eastern Railway station opened in 1882 is famous for the station canopies architecture.

It became part of the Tyne & Wear Metro in 1980. The 1970s trains are now only just being withdrawn after 46 years service.

A fort, built c. 125 CE, to house c. 600 men, stood at the end of the extension to Hadrian’s Wall

The tower gives a view over extensive remains, with a television screen showing a reconstruction of the sites’s development

1906-7, to a design by E. S. Prior, in grey, rough Marsden limestone.

The tower was built partly as a landmark for shipping.

It has large diamond-shaped corner buttresses, which were once capped with pointed roofs.

Samian ware bowl (fragment)
Found at site of Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend, Newcastle.

The bowl is decorated with a man on horseback and a bear.

The fort stood at the end of the extension to Hadrian’s Wall.

Porte cochère, covered entrance way for vehicles, of 1862

Still with original iron gates, with pierced upper panels.

Passengers pass them daily to enter the station, but vehicles no longer use the porte cochère.
