My office has semi-regularly been getting calls from some company employing the use of an AI voice. I joked with my co worker that we should try to break its logic, but they haven’t called me in a while. Until today.

Fought off a migraine all day. I just felt off, like my body was forcing me to rest, even though that was the intention anyway.

Tonight, I played Minecraft for the first time since I got sick with Covid. Might still be too much for me and my tired brain, but it was nice.

WHY does NPR keep accepting the premise of the bullshit this administration keeps shoveling out? Their mewling “examination” of Renee Good’s Insta was nauseating this morning on Up First. What. The. Fuck. That didn’t do what they think it did. Garbage. Just, garbage.

This is probably going to demand a depressing amount of repetition, but here goes.

If Renee Nicole Good was a childless foreign national, its still wasn't OK for a federal employee to straight up execute her. Begging everyone to not concede one inch of ground to this toxic framing.
The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, a US citizen and the mother of a small child.

Felt fatigued this morning. Once I had my oatmeal and coffee, I rallied a bit, but I was really feeling it before then. I should have gotten more sleep, at the very least.

Was playing fallout 76 just now, & started a public team. A random player joined, and their gamertag indicated that they had really bad halitosis. So, I fast-traveled to Morgantown to the Responders camp and looted three toothbrushes and three tubes of toothpaste. Went & dropped them at their feet.

OpenAI: look, our thing totally doesn't turn people into murderers or encourage them to die by suicide

Also OpenAI, I'm 100% sure: our ChatGPT brand and advertising offer unheard-of levels of conversion for purchase and loyalty

(Tech has been saying this out the sides of their mouths for ages)

Co worker texted me to say she wasn’t feeling so hot, and wanted to let me know it wasn’t Covid. I took a couple tests - a 3-in-1 that tests for Covid, flu A and flu B, and forgot for a moment that “C” on the readout is for “Control” and not “Covid.” Had a little adrenaline boost there.

I'm old enough to remember when smoking around others was socially acceptable, in restaurants, bars, workplaces etc. Secondhand smoke was everywhere.

We changed norms once we accepted that shared air = shared risk.

Airborne viruses are no different

Hi there. Isn't it interesting how the most popular TV shows and movies this year (Sinners, Kpop Demon Hunters, and Heated Rivalry) were all hyper specific stories, proving that "universal appeal" (i.e. appealing to white straight folks) is not actually that appealing?

For those of us who pay quarterly taxes or any other payment by December 31, this unheralded change in postal policy can bite you in the butt. This could have other unforeseen consequences (e.g., mail-in balloting), but for now, this is more timely.

I was reading some anecdotes about folks testing positive for Covid for 3+ weeks on current strains (sometimes rebounding to it after testing negative), so I took a test this morning. Still negative. I’m resting a lot, too, which has really done a number on my to do list/chores. Sigh.
