Anyway: "Will leftists vote for Newsom in the general" is a classic have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife-yet question. If you swear to vote for the D nominee they can ignore you because they've got you, and if you won't they can ignore you because you're a wrecker.

Eternal truth. Someone on Bluesky *is* always reading Moby Dick. 🐋
I don't know what I expected reading Moby Dick to be like but I'm excited every day to check in on my favorite scallywags and see what nautical hijinks they're getting up to

You can try to convince me it would be easier to resist things under a liberal but none of you helped with Gaza and we couldn’t even convince the dems to stop a genocide when they were running against Trump. Do you hear yourselves

Reading American history will break your heart a thousand times but it will also fill you with such admiration and awe for all the people who were excluded from the protection of America’s founding principles and fought to promote, protect and expand them anyways

She asked the Lying Machine if it was lying and it kept saying No!

Just imaging how most Europeans I know would be so embarrassed watching Rubio lay on the historically ignorant flattery, and apologia for world-historical crimes that runs through this speech.
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

Thinking once again about the crisis of literacy.

People actually responding to tone - like literal tone of voice, use of conciliatory-sounding rhetorical devices, and flattery- and not comprehending the ideas expressed.
Much of the legacy US, UK, EU media is framing his speech as: "Rubio reassures allies", "softer tone from Rubio", "warmer tone from Rubio". I don't know what the fuck they listened to or read.

Absolutely incredible sequence from CNN.

"Maduro was a paranoid lunatic always lying about the CIA trying to overthrow him. Anyways, now that the CIA has overthrown him..."

This is like when people talk about wanting to go back to Obama and I’ll be like “Oh, you want to go back to the time and people that directly led to our current situation?” And sometimes they pause and think.
Hillary Clinton: "More people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

the White House should really come with a cat, that every president has to deal with respectfully, as a reminder that the office is bigger than them
Larry the Cat celebrates 15 years as Downing Street’s chief mouser on Sunday.

The 19-year-old tabby is serving his sixth prime minister, having survived a decade of political turbulence in the UK government.

The English Scots and Irish with their long history of getting along as one people
1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

There is no easier or more important political position to take than to do everything possible to stop this. It will change our society forever, and Democrats are going along with it.

Love to see a human who is clearly asking himself “But what would be fun?” and just killing it.
Everyone in the world comes to get married at the NYC Marriage Bureau. Last week, the Mayor stopped by to officiate a few of those ceremonies.

Thank you to all the couples who shared their joy with us. Happy Valentine's Day, New York.
