This same conversation happened 1000 times on the light rail
"Oh my gosh, it was so nice to see you! Have a lovely day, fuck ICE!"
"Oh you too hon! Stay safe in that traffic, fuck ICE!'

A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

Just dropped my son off at a friend's for a sleepover, and the weather outside is brutal - app says "Feels like -32°F". And yet almost every corner along Minnehaha Ave had anti-ICE volunteers in hi viz vests standing out side to keep watch. I think we're gonna win. #AbolishICE

I had this exact experience yesterday while trying to convince a (former) Republican that this is a Republican agenda being implemented by Republicans.
One of the biggest challenges in public life is convincing people that Republican leaders and office holders support the things the Republican leaders and office holders are doing on behalf of other Republicans, and this isn’t all some big misunderstanding.
Calling Congressional Republicans and supportive business leaders cowardly or weak is generous.

Assumes they're moral and patriotic, and therefore don't like all this, but are just too scared to do anything about it.

Their actions, however, indicate that they're into it. Or at least don't mind.

Good piece - it really captures how it feels here right now.
“The physical machinations of the occupation are nearly impossible to avoid. ICE stops people randomly on the street. ICE rams cars, sometimes through intersections, and sometimes pulls someone out and leaves the car right in the street.” www.liberalcurrents.com/so-hows-the-...
So, How’s the Occupation Going for You?
What’s it like to live in America with a domestic military occupation? Minnesota has the answer.

Look at these fuckers. These cowardly bullies, predominantly targeting women and children.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

The ICE occupation of our city is affecting everyone, and emotions are incredibly raw, but it is heartening to see how many people are coming out and confronting these fascist goons.
The great @usefulnoise.bsky.social made a request that we all write something about what life in Minnesota is like for folks who live elsewhere or might be outside our normal neighbothis-Bluesky footprint. So I went to cursed Facebook and wrote this. Maybe it will help you share your own thoughts.

People need to understand that even though there is something like 2MM people in the metro area, Minneapolis itself is more like a small town than a big city. Everyone knows the block where Good was murdered, everyone knows someone who has witnessed some horror committed by these ICE goons.

I love Minneapolis so much. The march was huge but also people were lining the route with signs and chants and neighbors waved from their windows and a bunch of people who were in their cars trapped by the march rolled down their windows and fist-bumped marchers.
I didn't bring a sign but someone offered me an extra as I arrived.

Re-upping this post. Do whatever you can to render aid. They are trying to terrorize and demoralize us. Don't give in to despair.
Hey Minneapolis folks - I know someone who manages a restaurant, and they've been taking employees' cars to fill them up. You can too! Got a neighbor, friend, or coworker who needs gas or groceries? Step up! You can help thwart these goons.

I literally said this to a low-info, leans-R voter in October 2024, but I got nowhere. I sometimes wonder what he's thinking now.
every republican president destroys the economy
2025 is now, officially, the worst year for job creation outside of recession since 2003.
