Good stuff here. Ultimately UEFA have the same problem every other institution has, if someone is racially abused at their work they have to stop, an investigation needs to take place and when the perpetrator denies it you just have to hope it stops or goes away. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Every day I see something on here and go, there's no way that's real and it turns out that yes that's real and there is a way and it turns out that the way is because I live in the "United" "Kingdom" of "Great" "Britain" and "Northern Ireland"

For the day that’s in it would really recommend reading this piece and watching video with Andrew Lownie about carefully curated narrative was created around Andrew - and ‘policed by armies of lawyers and PR people’ and a pliant media.

When reading any story about the painstaking restoration of a work of art by conservators (here, a gilded papyrus of the Egyptian Book of the Dead), I wait for the part where conservators describe how they had to undo the destructive work done by previous conservators, and it never fails to arrive.

fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

Impossible to say as i am always mad as hell leaving the theatre for reasons which remain unclear to me (because I'm mad as hell)
I know people are getting mad at this but if you remember for a moment that 50 years ago was 1976 it is a lot funnier. Happy Days first aired in 1974, beginning the era of modern literature
Meanwhile, on threads, which actually is like what people on twitter think bluesky is like, a "teacher, author, poet" speaks...

The New Yorker, e.g., has a 100-year history of helping its readers assimilate avant-garde aesthetics into middlebrow worldviews; all those habits of mediation can be deployed in the service of chatbots, by writers “exploring implications” (based on premises devised by a tech company’s PR team)

Sad to hear about UK Hip Hop producer Simon harris. Music of Life label had some bangin' tunes late 80s - early 90s. Lot of 'em got sampled on early Rave tunes. I put a little mash together 🎶

Making decisions about what you want to do as a career? Social transition. Changing your mind about that decision? Social transition. School? Social transition.
Braverman says social transitioning would be banned in all schools, "no ifs or buts". She says the 50% target for university education would be replaced with a 50% target for kids going into trades like electricians and plumbing. As ever, I'll believe it when it's the MPs' own kids who do this.

If they go to high school, if they break their arm, if they fall out with their pals, if they call their teacher "mom", if they return to school after a bereavement, if they stop enjoying that sport they used to enjoy ITS SOCIAL TRANSITION ALL THE WAY DOWN YOU GUYS.
"if they socially transition too early we think they can get locked onto a trajectory that may not have been the correct natural trajectory for them"
Direct quote.

99% of our politicians would rather listen to someone who spouts Nazi ideology in a posh accent and big words than to a member of an oppressed minority who occasionally calls someone a fucking idiot

It's more than silly, it perpetuates the issue that's caused a good half of our current problems, where the ruling & media class truly believe it's worse to be a bit rude or sweary than to be a massive racist or homophobe or paedophile
It is legitimately so ridiculous that there is a category called “rude” here where the mods decide which grown ass adults are too rude- it’s so silly
