Best article I've seen to articulate why I can't stand Gavin Newsom and hope he goes no further in his political career - go run your winery dude.

Gavin Newsom transformed himself into an internet meme. It’s running for president.
California’s erstwhile flesh-and-blood governor is now Gov. Max Headroom. Democratic voters seem happier this way.

On the execution in Minnesota: Obviously, the individuals involved should be held accountable. But responsibility goes to the top of ICE and CBP, and DHS. Their appropriations come up next week in the senate. Not a cent for DHS without pulling ICE and CBP off the streets, in MN and everywhere else.

This gets at why we are so frustrated when Democratic electeds insist on talking about affordability.

Trump and his Republicans are terrorizing the state of Minnesota. They are destroying federal government agencies. All this is indecent by any standard, and unconstitutional.
Over time these initially looney ideas float around in the ether and stop being fringe. There is no reason the left of center can’t to do the same thing. Restoration of the prior status quo is impossible, so we must think creatively about what comes next to build the new constitutional republic.

I have been actively involved in protest movements for 24 years. I have never seen anything approaching this scale. Minneapolis is not accepting what's happening here. ICE fucking murdered a woman for participating in this, and all that did is bring out more people, from more walks of life.

I've been waiting for this.

Independent autopsy of Renee Good is in. It's strong evidence against Agent Ross, given what it means about the second or third shot through the left-side window.

It's the second and third shots that make the easiest criminal case of a willful killing.

I'm old enough to remember prop 187 & the effect it had on the GOP here when many CA Latinos decided maybe they weren't Republicans after all.

We can only hope that ICE committing daily atrocities will at least have an even more devastating, widespread, & lasting effect to GOP if we get thru this.

Biden made verbal flubs, largely due to his stutter becoming more present in his old age. But Trump stands before the whole world and repeatedly refers to Greenland as *ICEland* and it's just another day.

I ask again, what would he have to do in public to make the GOP do something about him?

This is insane not just the explicit "go break the 4A" substance but how they knew how bad it was, acting in guilty paranoia to cover it up and suppress the written evidence.

This isn't how running a government agency works. This is what a criminal conspiracy looks like, because that's what it is.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

At least one ICE instructor resigned rather than teach the illegal memo!

Excellent @radleybalko.bsky.social piece on why what we are seeing in Minneapolis is, in fact, something qualitatively different than the police violence that happens all too often.

This struck me as a key line: the OPEN contempt for accountability. Such explicitness matters.
