I tend to use dashes a lot whenever I write anything, and it's getting increasingly annoying having to minimize that in order for ppl to not think that it was written by some fucking clanker

Imagine if the Democratic Party actually helped Zohran instead of trying to kneecap him at every step. A better party is immediately possible if they stop shoving money into the anti-trans combination Racism Dial/Money Toilet and instead get behind candidates people actually want.

Be prepared for your liberal friends to start parroting anti-trans “concerns” borrowed from the NYT.
Good morning! On this day when the New York Times begins its podcast series on trans healthcare for kids, I wrote an open letter to my science journalism colleagues who work against trans healthcare in the name of our shared profession: galileospendulum.org/2025/06/05/o... Please read and share.
Open Letter to Anti-Trans Science Journalists
To my science journalist colleagues at the New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Guardian, and elsewhere: I write this open letter on the day the New York Times begins a podcast series…

Dear Democrats in the Senate,

Please get ready amendments ready for reconciliation bill that will at least:

- defund Starlink
- defund all maters related Space X
- defund DOGE (calling it a Deep State)

And that's just the start. There can be lot lot more.

Thanks.

THAT’S MY GOVERNOR 😤
Pritzker: The reckoning is here. And now that this culture of timidity is on display, these same do-nothing Democrats want to blame our losses on the defense of Black people, trans kids, and immigrants, instead of on their own lack of guts and gumption.

seen a sentiment from a few people now expressing or implying a desire to transition but feeling unable due to the current political climate. while fear of the future is completely reasonable, waiting for a "good time to transition" will waste your life. it will never not feel scary at first

It's Don't Argue Inside Your Head With Other People Friday! Today, if you like, when you catch yourself arguing inside your head with someone who's not present, quietly & firmly move your mind away. You can do this as many times as you need.

It's not just that they want to be rich, they want the rest of us to be so destitute we won't fight back. But that isn't how this works. Yeah some people will focus on naked survival but there's always a subset that's like, "well fuck it, now I have nothing to lose"

I have my problems with any Pope, by definition

But you gotta hand it to Papa Francisco for coining the phrase "theirs is the construction site of hell" in a description of American fascism and then dying almost immediately afterward

Also: I feel like the people asking “when should we panic” are actually asking for permission to stop acting like everything is normal.

You don’t need permission. This is not normal, hasn’t been for a long time, and it’s ok to act accordingly.
I see people keep asking "when do we panic" and the answer is never, not because it isn't that serious, we surpassed that point long ago. It's because panic does not help you assess a threat, nor does it help you rise to meet it.

And these petty, hateful, violent people do not deserve our fear

The thing I miss most about NY (right now) is the deeply embedded knowledge you get for a particular neighborhood, where you and a friend can walk from place to place spontaneously on a Tuesday night, having a wonderful time and never being more than 10 min from home.

You were masking.

You weren’t “coping.”
You were dissociating.

You weren’t “fine.”
You were in burnout.

They praised your performance.
But never saw the cost.

You deserved care.
Not applause.

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.

They can't keep spewing carbon.

They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.

They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

something to be said about cory booker seizing senate proceedings to explicitly implore americans to rise up against fascist authoritarianism because the political class is insufficient in combatting it and for everyone’s response to that to treat his filibustering like a must-watch long podcast.
