I think Bluesky is currently the best social media platform for keeping misinformation to a minimum, maybe because it’s not popular enough to be a target yet

Half the shit my friends, including fellow academics, share on Facebook is made up crap that they believe is real

Threads is atrocious too

On the brink of potentially astonishing breakthroughs in immune therapy, up to and including curing cancer, and instead we’re going to re-litigate germ theory and vaccination. Unreal, world-changing levels of stupidity
"Kennedy, in a bestselling 2021 book, explicitly rejected germ theory...in favor of 'miasma theory,' which pediatrician and vaccine inventor Paul Offit describes as 'a long-abandoned medical theory that holds that diseases are caused by poisonous vapors.'" 👇
Remember RFK Jr.'s remark about how he was "not scared of a germ" because he "used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats"?

Funny thing about that: Of *course* he's not scared of a germ. Because he doesn't believe in the germ theory of disease.

Really. Literally.

In 1993 Rev. Jesse Jackson was arrested after blocking 5th Avenue as part of a group protesting the Clinton Administration's policy of maintaining a detention camp for Haitian political refugees. A lifetime of direct action and protest regardless of who was in power.

Rest in peace

Librarian here: yup. Had this experience at the ALA Conference a few years ago. I had both Chinese researchers and New Zealanders shocked at our budgets, even in Boston, with 40+ colleges and universities and the Boston Public Library.

The concentration camps will not only be for immigrants, documented or otherwise. They already aren't.

They won't only be for brown and Black people.

The targets will keep expanding. It will not end.

The only way it will is if we stop it. Both in and out of the system. There is no other way.

i am told that capitalism is the most efficient method of distributing wealth, labor, and resources, largely in part due to the invisible hand of market demand
“.. ‘many system vendors will go bankrupt or exit product lines due to a lack of memory. Mobile phone production will be reduced by 200-250 million units, and PC and TV production will be significantly reduced.’ Yikes.”

The God of War Trilogy is getting a Remake. But the question is how 1-to-1 will these remakes be, and will they include the sex minigames? And should they?

Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.

They don't have the manpower to get this done. And with the margins we're seeing in special elections, they'd need to swing places by 20 points and that isn't happening.

Imo what people should expect is random ICEholes "accidentally" dropping tear gas near long ballot lines and that kind of shit
One of my biggest fears about the midterms is that ICE could flood the polls with agents who perform Kavanaugh Stops on every non-white person before they get a chance to cast a ballot, then detain them until voting is over. Which is not far-fetched at this point. www.huffpost.com/entry/ice-po...

One thing that's important to realize now is that, even in a scenario where Dems sweep to a crushing trifecta in 2028, Republicans will use their control of the courts to attempt to continue, as much as they can, to run executive agencies in exile, with DHS/ICE under Biden as the model

One of these companies is Toka, which offers products that hack into specific vehicles to harvest real time location data, as well as onboard camera and even microphone feeds.

Toka was co-founded by Epstein confidant/partner and former Israeli PM Ehud Barak.
