Why does independent journalism — and legal support, here from @publicjustice.bsky.social — matter?

An answer:
Note: Judge Tenheim initially ordered these memos to be filed under seal, meaning the public wouldn't have access to them.

Law Dork moved to intervene on Tuesday, asking, among other steps, for the sealing to be lifted.

The judge lifted the sealing order on Thursday.

So, the memos are now public.

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

Exactly this.
Not providing lowest-cost energy to businesses is a great way to become uncompetitive fast
Australia: let’s roll out so much rooftop solar you can have free power during the day
NZ: businesses are closing down because they can’t afford power so we’re building a one billion dollar fossil fuel terminal so we can keep not having free power
New liquified natural gas terminal: 'Vital' or 'bonkers'?

Javier Abreu-Vasquez had a kidney transplant in 2023.

He was grabbed by ICE while delivering groceries to help his neighbours.

They’re refusing to give him his anti rejection meds.

Without them, he will lose the organ.

This is how people die.

His work showed a genuine and profound love for people and nature - often funny, often heartbreaking, but always incisive.

Australia has lost a great today.

It is approximately the size of a person's hand, made of bone, and intricately carved.

I've masked the lower half,as only the legitimate owner will be able to fully describe it.
