reminder: Jimmy Kimmel is enough of a mensch that he devised a segment on which actors who are just short of having enough work to qualify for union healthcare come on his show and deliver a single line of dialogue

It has been wild to see what were always the two most paranoid pro-Second Amendment scenarios—the government snatching people away and sending occupying armies into communities—literally happen this year, to the delight of conservatives
There can’t be any gun restrictions because we have to protect against federal government tyranny, and if kids get shot we just have to live with it. Also the President can send troops to cities because the federal government can do whatever it wants. These two ideas are consistent and reasonable.

AI is not a magic wand and so many people are going to die in the next 10 years because companies and agencies believe it will make them more money.
Reporter: The FDA has a new AI tool that's intended to speed up drug approvals. But several FDA employees say the new AI helper is making up studies that do not exist. One FDA employee telling us, 'Anything that you don't have time to double check is unreliable. It hallucinates confidently'

"Alligator Alcatraz" is wrong and media should not use it. It's propaganda. Alcatraz held people convicted of crimes, particularly violent crimes.

The Florida camp holds people *not* convicted of any crime. If they had been, they'd be in prison elsewhere.

The site is a textbook concentration camp.
I know the media is going to unthinkingly start using “Alligator Alcatraz,” but it’s disgusting and sadistic and I intend to call it what it is, a fucking concentration camp, and fuck those people who are doing this and giving it a cutesy name.

I'm often critical of Senate Democrats for not doing more, but in this instance they did everything we could've asked for.
senate democrats did literally everything possible to stop this bill and to draw attention to it, and they succeeded in striking several awful parts from it *and* forced two retirements, if you they could’ve done more, your argument is with arithmetic, not politics
I hate what Republicans do with the heat of a thousand suns but it takes two to do a fascism: one to act and the other to not stop him. That is why I keep saying, hey, let’s stop them. Shaking a fist is good but throwing one is better.

I cannot stress enough: you cannot give an inch on this issue.

The moment you start accepting media using genAI for "small" things or just tiny aspects of production, they will only start outsourcing more of the process to AI

We’ve seen a wide range of accusations regarding the use of AI-generated content in The Alters, and we feel it’s important to clarify our approach and give you more context.
