Starring Kitty was first published in 2014 and after the rights reverted to me, I self-pubbed an anniversary edition.

“There is a moment when you start reading a book and you just know [it’s] a book that you’ll love. This happened to me on the very first page of Starring Kitty.”

I’ve written another romcom! It’s about two scriptwriters who can’t stop arguing but have to work together to save a TV show. Also there is kissing. I loved writing it and you can pre-order it here! linktr.ee/LoveSceneAnn...

I’d totally forgotten about using a ruler to make a margin in books at school. (Just heard Bill Nighy mention it.)

What if every object were a portal — a small, solid piece of time?

Each week, I open one from past, present and future, or from a book.

Together they form a quiet museum of feeling, a tactile and sensory history, and ask why do some ‘things’ endure?

Introducing Touch Points, a weekly reflection on objects real and imagined from the past, present and future. Welcome to this museum of a material life connecting memory, history and the senses.

Honey, who was sold for £400 in a car park and turned out to be both pregnant and epileptic, has single-pawedly spent our whole operations fund. Help please? 😬
Our operations fund disappeared overnight
We recently took in a beautiful British shorthair called Honey who was sold for £400 in a car park. Her new owner quickly found that she was a) pregnant and b) epileptic. She gave birth to 10 kittens, of which 8 survived. When they'd all been sold, her new owner decided she didn't want her anymore because of her (untreated!) seizures. And so she came to us. We took her to the vets and ordered some phenobarbital, which we've used with great success on two other epileptic cats. However, before it came in, poor Honey had a severe seizure and then two more in the space of a day. Our fosterer took her to the emergency vet, where she had to be kept in on an IV to get her phenobarbital level up quickly to stop the seizures. She's recovering beautifully, but her treatment has completely emptied our bank account, and we had quite a few operations planned that we still need to do: - Lemon, an old lady found on the street needs a full dental and a scan to find out why she's so wheezy - Thomasina, another golden oldie stray, needs a full dental now she's stable on her thyroid meds - Lenny, who spent 2 years wobbling on the streets, needs his neuter and jabs - Sabrina, who survived the panleukopenia that killed her kittens, needs her spay and jabs - Kirby, a sweet grey wobbler, needs his neuter and jabs - Boots, a handsome orange boy who recently spent his 14th birthday outside as his owners didn't want him anymore, needs a fair bit of treatment, plus a birthday party! If you can help with any of this, we would hugely appreciate it. I'm taking some of my jewellery to be sold at the weekend but I don't think it's worth very much unfortunately. I'm really glad we could help stop Honey's constant scary, debilitating seizures, so I know we did the right thing. It's just that the others have been waiting so patiently for their treatment so they can find wonderful new homes, and I don't want to let them down. Thank you. Love Holly and the moggies x

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?

I know people complain about lighting in modern films but what is up with the sound? I saw The Sound of Music yesterday without my hearing aids and every word was clear.

Today I saw A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, my hearing aid battery ran out, and I’d say I missed half the dialogue.

it's not that I thought government would save the country from what's been bubbling for the last 10+ years, I'm not that naive. but I guess I just didn't expect that they would literally offer it up on a plate

Dismayed by the "I loathe Gl**ner but his arrest should scare us all" takes. The bar for arrest over a social media post *should be extremely high*, but a guy who's harassed trans people 19 hours a day for 8 years, telling his 600k fans to attack any trans women they see, clears that bar v easily?

I'm genuinely disturbed.
I'm living in a country that is passionate about defending the 'free speech' of those who would incite violence against minorities, but equally passionate about arresting people for calling a genocide a genocide.
