Rudy Bridges is younger than the Sitting President of the United States and 29 sitting United States Senators
It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

Happy Friday, Vermont! Tax the rich. Fund the common good.
When Massachusetts passed a "millionaires tax" in 2023, conservatives claimed the rich would flee.

But two years later, they haven't — and MA has collected $5.7B for infrastructure and public education.

A reminder that positive change can still happen at the state level.

There should be no billionaires. Tax all income over $1 billion at 100%. Income of $500 million to < $1 billion at 75%. Take care of the people: Healthcare, housing, education, food...
53% of Americans believe billionaires are a threat to American democracy.

Meanwhile, just 100 billionaire families spent $2.6 billion on federal elections last year — a 160-fold increase since Citizens United.

The people know: billionaires should not be able to buy our elections.

JD Vance owns a company that buys American real estate and sells it to foreign investors. They specifically target Americans in crisis to buy their property for less than it is worth.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Healthcare is a basic human right.

Food is basic human right.

Education, housing, clean air & water are human rights.

Using healthcare and food as leverage should be grounds for removal from office.

SNAP, Medicaid and the ACA are worth fighting for.

People will die without them.

sorry but the Democrats literally just swept a special off-year election slate that was explicitly a "fuck you, GOP" referendum up and down the ballot from sea to shining sea, a clear sign that the GOP are losing the "your problems are the Democrats' fault" optics battle, and you're surrendering???
SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:

Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care

"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

if calling isn't your style, you can send an email. or a letter.

I loved the West Wing storyline about this, actually. Sam keeps trying to convince the party they need to pour money into races they know they’ll lose because it energizes the state and local parties to see the Dems actually get in the game and draft someone with something to say
I've seen this go by a few times on TikTok now and I have to say, I love this idea. We need a way to convince people to keep running even if they don't win, maybe building the loss into it as a troll move is the secret.

Is a 62 point lead a lot? because I’m concerned that massive wins of this sort will cause Democrats to learn the wrong lesson that standing up for principles and people and getting votes is more politically successful than spending 50 years trying to make a family of imaginary bigots like you.
just in: Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner is on track to win easily.

With roughly a quarter of the vote reporting, he leads Pat Dugan 81% to 19%.

Krasner already beat Dugan in the Dem primary... and Dugan kept running as the GOP nominee. (My write-up: boltsmag.org/2025-prosecu...)
