Ultravox - Three Into One (1980) #vinyl
Grab early singles together, add some choice album cuts and you have genuine Best Of the John Foxx era Ultravox. Producers include Steve Lillywhite, Conny Plank and Brian Eno, so they were well regarded by their peers and label. Dangerous Rhythm was some debut

Outstanding quote from Casement.
Roger Casement: “A nation is a very complex thing. It never does consist; it never has consisted solely of men of one blood or one single race – it is like a river, rising in the hills with many sources, many converging streams, that become one great stream.” (1905)

Dug this out from the #vinyl vault and gave it a clean up.
Yes - Yesterdays (1975). An Atlantic compilation album to probably tide the bad over. Largely from the first two albums plus full length America. Full of hot Hammond and some good guitar work from Peter Banks. You hear the psych influences

Through work I've spent a fair bit of time with wonderful people in places that have only too recently endured war and even genocide. There's no doubt in my mind that the BBC World Service is the ultimate soft power. Not only that, it's often a genuine humanitarian provision.

This is wanton idiocy.

Ultravox - Systems Of Romance (1978) #vinyl
Last outing for John Foxx in the band and it’s a very fine album indeed. The interplay between guitar and synth is handled so well and the metronomic drumming of Warren Cann underpins it all.

Went to the #vinyl vault and pulled out a couple of rarely listened to albums that I hoped would be gems. Sadly they aren’t. Charlie L Jones is southern blues/soul with rare moments and the Mark King solo album is free form jazz exploration because he had no ideas and some studio time. Chazza bound

My parents bought this LP in 1958. It was a huge part of my childhood and has accrued the patina of decades. I've run it through the Pro-Ject cleaner, and it now glitters anew. A beautiful recording restored. There are many versions of The Planets, but this is the one that my world revolves around.
