OMG 😭

Huntington's is an inherited disease that's like Alzheimers + Parkinson's all in one. NOW: "once the gene therapy has been delivered into the brain... [it] injects a piece of DNA to reprogram the neuron to become a factory for its own cure."

LIFE SAVING!

On the subject of wild shit people do on TikTok, there's a woman with some, like, toddler-small child sized reborn dolls who actively pretends she's feeding them happy meals and does voice overs as if they're speaking.

Statistically, children are in much more danger from their parents than they are from any random stranger. Stranger danger isn't imaginary, but most violence against children by adults is from within the family. (Similarly, most kidnappings? Parents or other relatives.)

"Parental Rights" is one of those phrases that sounds pretty good until you realize it really means "no rights for kids."

Watching someone who has been playing the martyr for like... a year or more... continuing to lowkey harass someone who literally has nothing to do with what they're claiming happened. It's just wild. Like they didn't get the amount of attention they wanted so they're picking a scapegoat to harass.

I think I prefer Helluva Boss to Hazbin Hotel because it's mostly about fucked up trash people without the Epic whatever series plots. Hazbin is fine, but the overall heaven v hell / redemption plot doesn't quite make sense to me and I can't articulate why without way to much effort.

Googly eye bag comes in an uneven number so they just expect you're gonna do some weird shit with them

My dog is 50 lbs and earlier he responded to the fireworks by climbing onto my shoulder while I was trying to watch Helluva Boss with my husband.

You may ask, how does a 50 lb dog fit on your shoulder? I also wish I knew. But he made it work.

Finn tried to escape the scary noises by crawling under the couch. Shortly after this pic it became clear he couldn't get back out. Now he's crying his heart out at the bathroom door because he can't see my husband! During scary noise night!

(Yes. There is a lot of hair on the rug.)

ANT SABOTAGE!

There's a couple species of ants that live in the same area. One forages in the DAY and the other in the NIGHT. NIGHT ants will PLUG THE NEST ENTRANCE of the DAY ants, so they take 1-3 hours to even get outside. This leaves more food for the NIGHT ants

Do I go on a probably futile quest over the next two days to find hog jowl for my husband, or do I just cook bacon instead and call it good enough for Arizona.

It's wild when you're like, not the actual victim of something/someone, and you are, like, confronted with fiction about the thing, and still you have an emotional reaction like you aren't just vaguely adjacent.

Look, when I got the flu shot, insurance paid for it AND CVS gave me a $10 coupon, so.
And if you've heard the shot doesn't match the strain this year, you should know that the shot still offers a ton of protection (especially from severe complications).

Watching Hundreds of Beavers.

It has been a very long time since I was last this simultaneously entertained and confused.
a black and white photo of a man with a beard wearing a furry hat .
Alt: Protagonist of Hundreds of Beavers standing in his raccoon-fur suit with the comically huge dead raccoon head hat (it looks like if someone made a hat out of a cheap raccoon mascot head with X on the eyes). He is standing in the dark and looks confused.

Every year I try to do my part to replace "is ___ a Christmas movie" discourse with "is Bringing Out The Dead an A Christmas Carol adaptation" and "is the Christmas that the Grinch stole a celebration of Whoville's savior Horton the Elephant" discourse but it never takes.

(answer key: yes yes yes)

It's funny to me that so much of the Christmas Vacation plot relies on the Griswolds just being a middle class family, but that never occurred to me as a child because obviously they had to be like super rich.

I was trying to let my husband know that i know about the elder scrolls after stabbing my way around the mmo for a horrific number of hours and i have been informed that my "oh yeah they were the ayleids and then they all got murdered by pelinor the furry robot with the weird song" is incorrect
