This article is making the rounds for good reason, and the disdain for anti-vaxxers and raw milk enthusiasts is warranted, but I want to go deeper.

Why are these women so vulnerable to disinformation? I'd argue it's at least partially because American motherhood is hard and profoundly lonely.
Some young women are celebrating the nomination of Kennedy, a medical skeptic, to the nation’s top health position, saying he takes their concerns about nutrition and medicine seriously.

This is your first Land Back mission, America: National and State Parks.

Fuck Teddy Roosevelt and fuck the Antiquities Act of 1906 that was one of the biggest illegal land grabs from Native tribes in American history.

I think Westerners tend to forget (or never knew) that Ukraine's anti-colonial struggle didn't begin in 1990, or 2014, or 2022. It has been going on for centuries.
Today we honour the Heroes of Kruty — young Ukrainians who stood against a vastly larger russian force in 1918 to defend Ukraine's independence.

By holding back the enemy advance, they bought crucial time for the Ukrainian People's Republic to sign the Peace of Brest and secure intl recognition.

We often talk about how the US reaps the whirlwind of its actions in the ME or Latin America, but not nearly enough scholarship has gone into how the US laid the groundwork for the full scale invasion by just...accepting Russia's imperial claim that it alone could act as peacemaker in Eastern Europe
Just a friendly reminder that Ukraine was disarmed by the US in coordination with russia. This is if you want to say that the US had no obligation towards Ukraine

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims.

We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear.

Experts on people-powered movements know that successful pro-democracy movements often turn on whether the state security apparatus will use force on nonviolent protesters

That's one reason why its bad actually to have one wing of the apparatus loyal only to the regime rather than the people

This is just...mom stuff. Hand warmers, something warm to drink, some extra hats that you knit or found in the "cold weather bin" that lives in the mud room.

There are probably also fruit snacks and juice boxes in the box.
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

This claim ignores history. NATO’s mutual defense clause has been invoked only once — after 9/11, to defend the United States. Our allies fought, bled, and stayed for nearly 20 years. The record is clear. When America was attacked, NATO showed up.
Trump: "The big fear I have with NATO is we spend tremendous amounts of money with NATO and I know we'll come to their rescue, but I just really do question whether or not they'll come to ours. Just saying."

There are two stories here, both equally true.

Ukrainians are demonstrating incredible resilience, creativity, and solidarity. The Ukrainian spirit will not be conquered.

Ukrainians should not need to demonstrate this resilience. No one should.

Please read this, particularly the part about the 3 to 5-year window. All is not lost, but the clock is ticking.
I wrote about how concentration camp regimes evolve and why it's not too late to stop this, even though we are deep in it now.

I mean, this is borderline journalistic malpractice. If an 18-year-old describes themselves as an anti-woke moderate, you owe it to yourself and your readers to scratch the surface a little. Surprise! One mm deep you will find hard right ideology. Every single time.

Absolutely this. 100% correct. We cannot understand the moral panic around trans kids in the US, and then around trans adults, without acknowledging that this is part of a global anti-equality movement targeting trans folks, LGBTQI+ folks, and women. Often in that order.
There is a global far right anti-gender movement that is being supported by far right parties across the world. What is happening to trans people is a small part of that. This is a global retrenchment on LGBTQ rights occurring not only in lliberal states but western democracies as well.

I thought I was prepared for the antisemitism on display at AmericaFest, but was absolutely not. The examples here are jaw-dropping and coming from folks with access to political and cultural power. Horrifying, and shockingly under-covered.
