Hey remember the shooting in Minneapolis that happened between Renee Good and Alexi Pretti, the guy they claimed was shot by an agent after he had attacked that agent with a shovel? I know it's hard to believe but the agents' story fell apart and charges were dropped. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/12/u...

Once again, the AI boom is pushing everyone deeper into building new fossil fuel infrastructure. The sooner this bubble pops, the better. I hope it buries every dipwad who's pushing it for good.

This is happening in a town of 10000 people, BTW. Just dropping a 1000 job campus on a tiny community.

Word balloon placement is one of the most important elements to consider while laying out a comic page. If you have multiple word balloons in a panel, it's imperative that the reading order is intuitive. Even word balloons in separate panels can be read incorrectly when placed poorly.

Including disabled people in our utopian futures pushes back against a eugenicist ideal.
I have a friend who said, of Starfleet Academy, that this took them out of it - that seeing a person in a wheelchair in the 32nd century seemed unrealistic, since medicine in Star Trek "should be able to cure whatever was wrong with them."

That's not the case, for any number of possible reasons.

Almost immediately, the tragedy was pulled into the public domain and repackaged, writes municipal councillor Ken Matheson.

Not to support the grieving or help a traumatized community heal, but to advance ideological positions and turn suffering into rage farming. #TumblerRidgeShooting #bcpoli

I posted on *three platforms* just over *20 minutes* after Radio-Canada first misidentified this innocent trans woman as a mass shooter on national television in a 6:00pmET broadcast.

I tagged Radio Canada and Patrice Roy.

They didn't issue a correction until after 2:00pmET today.

Unacceptable.
Radio-Canada apologizes after it aired a photo circulated by anti-trans hate groups online, falsely claiming it was a photo of the Tumbler Ridge shooter. Damaging and irresponsible, and this apology raises more questions about journalistic process imho.

Rhetorial question but how is it ice's job to go after agitators
He literally says in this clip that ICE will keep in Minnesota “quick reaction forces” — a military term — to go after “agitators.” Remember that those on the ground in MPLS have spent more than a week trying to tell everyone that Trump’s prior “deescalation” was a ruse and ICE is still operational
Homan: "Operation Metro Surge is ending. In the next week, we're going to deploy the officers here on detail back to their home stations or to other areas of the country where they're needed."

we have become so inured to mass death that it is immediately exploited to advance reactionary agendas, scapegoat vulnerable minorities, and calls for political violence are louder than the mourning of the bereaved.
