In the last episode of Heated Rivalry, Ilya says he'd like hotdogs for lunch. But lunch gets derailed and I bet that the whole time he was hungry, and trying not to think about hotdogs. Luckily, he gets homemade spaghetti, the only food better than hotdogs. #heatedrivalry #hotdogs

i've got like 100 pages left in the book i'm reading & somewhat superficially i really want to try and finish it by tomorrow night so I can round my "2025 Books Read" list up to 20 instead of 19.

Nothing says "publisher prepping for 2026" like adding "Both of us promise to never never NEVER use genAI in this project, and if either of us do, deal's fuck'n OFF" clause to your publishing contracts.

I finished up a brand-new book in 2025. I’m going to try to get you to notice it (and buy it, and perhaps even talk about it!) in 2026. You can’t read it presently, but if you want to get a head-start you cooouuullld preorder it, or just even put it on your Goodreads “want to read” list now…

2025 was pretty alright. I released 2 books that I'm quite proud of. Moved in with my partner and started making a very cozy home. Started learning a new language. Realized that I really love quilting. Took a college class for the first time in 10 years. Got really good at cooking.

And even chicken pox is far from being some benign childhood illness. After you get it, it lives in your nervous system for life, and pops up again in your later years as shingles, which can be excruciatingly painful and lead to blindness.
Yeah, this dum dum is talking about chicken pox.

Anyway, it's very cool and awesome that he has so much cultural and political influence.

one of the truly depressing things about the culture war over masks is that we simply refuse to treat them as a tool to mitigate the spread of illness! it should be normal to wear a mask in public when you don’t feel well even if it’s not about saving anybody’s life!!!!! why would you mock that
or- and this will blow too many minds, for reasons that depress me deeply-

THEY CARE ABOUT OTHER PPL

hence find it totally worthwhile

TO DO THIS 1 EASY FKN TRICK THAT MIGHT SAVE A LIFE OR FEW (+if nothing else save ppl some real unpleasant days/missed pay)
These people aren't masking for shits and giggles- they are the immunocompromised, elderly, and others who are, or believe themselves to be, particularly vulnerable to infections of airborne viruses such as sars-cov-2, influenza, etc.

"Love drug users while we're alive" is as important a point in supporting people who use drugs as it is devastatingly sad.

Reminds me of:
"For one hundred years now, we’ve been singing war songs about addicts. I think all along we should have been singing love songs to them."
when a person who has saved so many people's lives (and in many different ways) dies, something in all of us (and in all of you, whether you know or not) dies too

i miss like 2013 era of podcasts when the occasional podcast with video would also have a list of links or images on the post on their website for the episode so audio listeners could see any visual references made. RIP.

will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other

If you push yourself to your limits and burn out for a company, you are trading years of your future productivity for minor gains in the present.

Burning out will _fuck you up_, it's like brain fog or depression, and it takes years to recover

Public service announcement: you can leave this ONE supernatural being off the table when you make lists of so-called cryptids. North America is not hurting for monsters for you to play with. You don’t need the one that represents an existential fear of starvation and the taboo against cannibalism.
The popular flesh-eating deer-monster with the name that starts with a W is a serious figure in many Native American tribes and has been requested many times that it is not used as some goofy fun movie monster. Instead how about you consider: Not Deer? cryptidz.fandom.com/wiki/Not_Deer
