I teach comics & illustration around Vancouver. I spend my spare time sewing.

i think humans are, for the most part, inherently pretty good. we've been inundated in a world that teaches us to hurt others (and it hurts ourselves to do so as well) out of fear and repression, but it's not natural. if it was the few who AREN'T good wouldn't work so hard to keep it that way
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

wearing a mask in, at the very least, public indoor spaces (grocery stores, pharmacies, transit, healthcare) is one of the most basic forms of allyship you can offer disabled people you’re forced share space with.

Feeling inspired by and grateful to my fellow Vancouver residents today for organizing en masse against a budget so sloppy and craven that anyone else would be fired for presenting it at their work.

Look at this map and tell me we can just Keep Logging
For the first time in BC's history, it also provides data on the remaining unlogged primary forests and those that have been degraded.

This is key info B.C. has yet to disclose, say report authors Karen Price and Dave Daust.

Got a preview of the thinking behind the COV budget via the mayor's former bagel joint on the corner. Opened strong & seemingly credibly, then relentlessly hiked prices & cut corners, its revolving door of staff looking more & more miserable, til only tourists who didn't know any better ate there.

right now the one thing uniting all vancouverites across demographics is how much we hate ken sim and the ABC city council. 🙏

Ken Sim's austerity budget is so severe that they're going to be REMOVING EXISTING BABY CHANGING TABLES

Vancouver, is this really who we are?
Listening to Vancouver Council budget discussion in the background this morning. In response to a question from @seanorr.bsky.social about where they'll be retracting from the city just said they're planning to REMOVE baby changing tables and menstrual product dispensers to save costs. Shameful.

My first ceramics piece is out of the kiln!

I'm taking a college level course & it's been an interesting challenge. I've never done this before & it's both frustrating and freeing. The assignment was to throw a cylinder and then alter it. All additions had to be wheel thrown.

Tomorrow is the only opportunity for the public to speak out on this tragedy of a budget. Over 300 people have signed up so far. If enough people speak out, the hope is that the vote will be delayed. Please sign up! You can speak over the phone; it’s easy. Deadline to sign up is today at 5pm.

You should be allowed to draw comics as your profession

Society has been on the rocks since cartooning has declined as an occupation
Drawing comics should be a job

Some of the best advice I ever heard was from @silviamg.bsky.social who said that you shouldn't set goals that require other people to do what you want. You can write a book. That's a goal. You can't control whether anyone buys it. Other people have free will.

Authors are constantly telling people how they made it! It's just that it takes a LOT of hard work and *patience* but people like this didn't wanna hear that advice. They think there's some kind of secret code or magic words that'll let you skip all that.

One thing that I’ll never be able to forget, to show how evil Elon and every single one of his cronies are, is that they thought life saving nutritional paste that cost 30cents was too expensive. $40 could keep a child fully fed for over 2 months. He makes more than that per second, not even joking
"World's first potential trillionaire has killed 600,000 people, including 400,000 children" is the only headline that anyone should ever read about Elon Musk
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

The truly maddening thing is that, unlike when I was a young man in science and the materials and engineering just weren’t there yet, the future is *right there.* The problem is *solved*. What’s holding us back is not just greed, but this bizarre nostalgia, an obsession with petro- masculinity.
