hi! i'm an animation professional who doesn't draw enough outside work. when i do, half the time it's something activisty. sometimes i do fan art, too.
tbh i was initially skeptical of it, partially because of the (deserved) discourse when it was announced but also just because... it looks like the 80s idea of the future. it makes more sense since i learned it was based on a ttrpg, but i do think about things like that pretty often, and this stuff:
I've felt this way for years (since cyberpunk 2077 was announced basically) but haven't actively sat with the idea long enough to say what a contemporary answer to the cyberpunk question would look like.

Very different, is all I know. Less neon, more LEDs, fewer wires, more manicured neighbourhoods

In this age of interweb decay, it's amusing to me that I still periodically find the osteoptimistic warrior and skeleptical friend doing the rounds.
The uncertain power of bones must resonate with people.

this game is so bleak, dude. i'm still real engaged but it's a real shit of a world, even when you try to help people half the time things go badly and they end up dead in an alley anyhow. I remember thinking similarly about the Edgerunners anime, but... well, it captures the tone of the game
still playing Cyberpunk 2077 and am in Dogtown now, laughing constantly at how much the story so far is just Escape from New York

starting to feel like there's a direct relationship between the growing obsession with lifestyle hygeine (no drinking, no caffeine, no sex, obsessive working out and looksmaxxing) and the inability to meaningful moral stands on issues of actual import
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

Most people experienced the fall of the Roman Empire as: “One day a bridge collapsed, and no one came to fix it.”
Apparently the zombocom domain expired yesterday and was presumably bought out by some other jackass who launched this vibe-coded IMPOSTOR

That's the real bonus

I confess I am a CD guy but yeah, true. I rarely go through the effort of throwing a disc on but it definitely makes a difference. Even cassettes have a specific charm even if their quality is probably more in the same zone as streaming

Relatable, tbh
February 8, 2026 at 5:09 PM
Oh yeah neither of those are any good. Try a free player first, I think i used the Leowo player. It was laggy in the menus but it was fine for most discs to play them at least
February 8, 2026 at 3:08 AM
Oh bummer! They work in mine, but I'd had trouble with some BDs in the past, it was solved when I actually bought PowerDVD instead of using a free player

Had an urge to watch some Lower Decks last night so I cracked my blu-ray set and I gotta say, there is a noticeable difference in quality between the discs and watching it on streaming! Everything is crisper in ways that I didn't expect to notice.

Anyway, buy your favourite shows on physical media!

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it
Just because good news is worth celebrating:

There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.

HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.

The Wright Museums Instagram page is HILARIOUS. Think The Office but it's the staff at a Museum for Black History. Better believe this is on my list of places to visit.

however an advantage of watching it as an adult is that i get to experience one-off designs like this for the first time and appreciate how damn cool they are. i've seen a lot of "Naoko Takeuchi was influenced by Mugler!" threads, but the sheer volume of Fashion in this show is NUTS.

i've spoken elsewhere about how i never really watched this show when i was a kid because it was a "girl's show" (though i didn't even watch dragonball that much) and i'm super annoyed, i feel like i would've been a more rounded person earlier in life.
I've been slowly watching through the OG sailor moon for the first time (I've only ever seen a couple episodes in full) and the animation on the spotlight in the eyecatch is SO appealing.

It's so snappy but the cushions and arcs are perfect so it still feels very natural

Started playing Absolum tonight in online co-op with a pal, it's cool as hell! Classic beat-em-up with roguelike features and some extremely charming cartoon art!

(Just note that if you want to play with someone else you'll have to do the tutorial first on your own)

This is how I know I'm old because I use cartoon both descriptively and positively... though i can see how "cartoony" could wind up being derogatory in the context of something that's meant to be serious

the Barbara Kruger mural the chase is happening in front of reads:

"WHO IS BEYOND THE LAW? WHO IS BOUGHT AND SOLD? WHO IS FREE TO CHOOSE? WHO DOES THE TIME? WHO FOLLOWS ORDERS? WHO SALUTES LONGEST? WHO PRAYS LOUDEST? WHO DIES FIRST? WHO LAUGHS LAST?"
I’ve watched this about 20 times already

Capitalism is so ✨️dynamic✨️ that if you tell investors half the global economy will be wiped out in 50 years, they make plans to extract as much value until right before it happens, and to make sure their half isn't the one that gets wiped out.

The 8 hour day is SO long! I had the same experience after a short gig at the end of last year though- it was too short to burn out, so I was able to stick with the routine and carve out a bunch of time to do my own thing for a while. Hope it works for you too!

the fierce and tireless work people in Minnesota, Illinois, California and elsewhere across the USA are doing to fight against ICE is inspiring and heroic, it also should never have got to this point.
