I have been saying this for almost a year and it is long past due for Dems to adopt this framing for 2 reasons:

1) it is entirely and demonstrably true.

2) the public must be prepared for the enormity of what will be required to dismantle the criminal organization and create a better democracy.

James Speyer, writing in The New York Daily News, says: It is time to acknowledge what has become tragically obvious: the Trump administration is essentially acting as a massive criminal enterprise. It lies, steals, extorts and murders — all while cloaked in the awesome authority of the state. It is on a crime spree that puts Al Capone to shame.

If Hunter S Thompson were alive today would he be a wild and awesome radical force (as he imagined himself) or would he have curdled into a Bannon-esque podcast host-victim who calls for retribution on his enemies?

Realized my Times subscription had reset to $30 a month but after 2 minutes of clicking I was able to get that down to $8 per month -- which is the correct market price for NYT news.

Me registering for my first email account in 1995: “Is this a mistake?”

Me mass deleting spam email and dodging ai posts as the surveillance panopticon consumes all information: “That was definitely a mistake.”

This genuinely might be the most important “follow the money” story in the history of journalism, and I deeply worry that the industry is too depleted and waterlogged to stay on it with the ferocity it requires

The drunk uncle theory.

You don’t argue with the casually homophobic uncle at Thanksgiving dinner to change his mind; you argue so that the closeted cousin at the kids table knows there’s safe people and better possibilities out there
agree with this (hah) but also think a particular mistake the left made for a long time online, and still makes to an extent, is failing to understand that the person whose mind you may actually change is the one reading the argument you're having, not the one you're arguing with

Very depressing to think about!
And if you’re wondering “Why is there a blob in the back?” Well, that’s where the first woman president was supposed to go. More than a century later, it remains unsculpted.

Ossoff: "Among today's false prophets are the election deniers who indulge this president's obsession with overturning the 2020 election. Hear me when I say this -- they tell a lie so absurd, and therefore so debasing, that the act of telling it proves the teller's total and humiliating submission."

They want to scare people out of posting ICE-critical content, because they know these posts are turning even their supporters against them. But the better option is to take a page out of their playbook and flood the zone.
Posting about ICE on Instagram is now enough to get you an “administrative subpoena.” 👀
