These are table umbrellas outside one of a row of riverside restaurants, about a half mile from where I live. Today has been rain-free so far and the river, although very high, is not overtopping in the center of the city, so fingers crossed. #ClimateCrisis #Coimbra #Portugal

This is great on the “SAVE” act.

“Don’t be fooled by my name, I suck.”
The house passed the SAVE Act last night. If you need to know more about why that’s bad and why we need to stop it in the senate, let me explain it to you (in comic form)!

Apologies ... I will be ranting all day about a proud Manchester lad, Jim Radcliffe, who seems to have forgotten our great city was built upon slave cotton ... normal service will be resumed if I calm down.

For multiple reasons, I can't be at AWP this year and already the FOMO is strong. But I will be reading at one of my favorite online places on Feb 22! If you'd like to hang out with us, here's the link to register. I'd love to see you there!

The term is so rare that out of over 300,000 news entries, it only appeared first in May 7 2024 in a "news" article on evangelical blog World News Group called "Giving evil a pleasant label." This was logged two days before EPPC posted the document on May 9.

Every writer, even those of questionable character, knows it's not a race or a competition. If you need AI to "generate a book", you're not an author. You're a disgusting scumfuck.
The whole article is repulsive but this passage is at the core of it. She has no interest in writing books, she wants to win some kind of competition that nobody entered

This is from Matthew Rice’s collection ‘Plastic’.

A microcosm of working class life set in a single 12 hour factory night shift.

It is an astonishing book, its acute observations are at times stark and bleak, at other surreal, funny and humane

Neofascist ideology and Right-wing resentment are rooted in a ”stoic” cowardice that refuses to question a hierarchy or capitalism. Justin Murphy is a great example of how that looks.
