Ahhh! I'm so excited to share my inflatable dad story in Short Story, Long! Who could ask for a more thoughtful editor than @aaronburch.bsky.social and a more fitting artist than ‪@aubreyhirsch.bsky.social? (No one, that's who!) ‬
I just found out that someone I admire very much is writing fan-fiction partially based on ENDPAPERS and it's the biggest reader/writer compliment I can imagine!

I agree completely that we need to have more conversations in this country about the nature of selfhood, but let's start with people—people of color, trans folks, the whole LGBTQIA+ community, disabled folks, and the elderly—before we worry about AI.
Experiments conducted with the A.I. system Claude are producing fascinating results—and raising questions about the nature of selfhood. Gideon Lewis-Kraus reports from inside the company that designed it, Anthropic. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/rOfXjg

"Trump and his allies have been signalling the vice of racial hatred for more than a decade, and each new event punches out the space for the next, worse signal."
"Every vice-signal, whether it’s Trump or Farage or Jenrick or Herbert Kickl, is telling you the rules are over. If you can’t believe them the first time, at least believe them the 100th." @zoesqwilliams.bsky.social

I’m almost done with WOLF BELLS by Leni Zumas. It’s making me think a lot about what a novel is and what it can be!

I, too, fear I'm personally not courageous enough for this moment in history. But together I believe we are.

I haven't watched football since I was a kid snacking through the Super Bowl with my mom, but I watched last night and these were my three takeaways:

My computer just glitched or something and turned into a never-ending loop of two-factor authentication in which every time one thing prompted me for a code from another thing, the other thing would prompt me for an additional code from something else 😱

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.

The staffer thing is so funny, like an entirely white nationalist administration has to be like oh no, there’s one of us who’s more racist that the rest of the ethnic cleansers
After huffily defending Trump for posting the racist apes video, the White House is now blaming it on an unnamed staffer.

“A White House staffer erroneously made the post. It has been taken down,” a White House official told Zeteo.
BREAKING: Madman President Promotes Racist Video of the Obamas as Apes

Trump’s policies and actions are fueled by explicit racism and election denial. The Obama-ape video encompasses both, writes @swin24.bsky.social.

I've been working on this essay for more than a month. And I've been writing around the point the whole time. Today I've finally gotten to a place where I can't escape it anymore. I have to figure out how to say clearly what this thing is about.

Pretty disheartening to see just how many men are in the Epstein files.

Has me thinking about the 72 men who raped Gisele Pelicot. 72!

There sure are a lot of men who line up to rape & harm women & girls. It’s a fact we as a society need to reckon with.
