I have new work in Wigleaf. Deepest thanks to Scott Garson and the @wigleaf.bsky.social team for holding my story with such care. I wrote this piece with love for a friend and I'd be so honored if you could read it.
All these rich dudes starting AI companies. They think it’s the new new thing. But I think they lack imagination. All jumping on the same bandwagon, leading humans farther and farther away from our humanity.

I’m in bed with a very unpleasant cold. But this is a lovely book to read when sick:

This picture encapsulates what I wish I could do with writing. Multiple textures & colors. Layers of depth. The view pulling you deeper & deeper into a scene that keeps surprising. Oh, red leaves. Oh, ripples of water. A bridge. People on path in the far distance. Skyscrapers. Clouds. Light…

I found another bald cypress changing colors in Central Park! And it’s huge! With a moody view of Belvedere Castle behind it.

The impact starvation will have on Gazans for decades to come is heartbreaking. Absolutely unconscionable that we allowed this to happen. I missed this piece when it came out. We should all read it.

For the severely malnourished, simply starting to eat normal meals again can cause sickness—even death.

If you ever get a chance to see Rennie Harris Puremovement, please do. Absolutely brilliant. I loved every minute. Totally transported out of my own life and into this movement and rhythm.

I’m so excited to get to rewatch this & also for everyone who didn’t get there to see it! If you missed it, I wrote about waiting in line for the show 😉

Absolutely devastated to hear the news about Alice Wong. What an incredible inspiration, courageous fighter for disability rights, & beautiful, searingly honest writer. Oh how this world needs her right now. What a loss for us all.

What a fantastic night at Books Are Magic to celebrate @eshanisurya.bsky.social & her stunning debut RAVISHING! I could have listened to @roxanegay.bsky.social & Eshani talk all night. So much warmth, wit, and insight in that room.

It's #TransgenderAwarenessWeek. My own awareness of my nonbinary gender identity solidified while I was writing my debut novel ENDPAPERS—about a genderqueer bookbinder struggling to understand herself in post-9/11 NYC, while there was no mainstream language to help her.

What? Blocks of wood pretending to be books? Are we okay with this? Is this cool or a total horror show? I feel like the music from Psycho should be playing here.

Hi.

I’ve been editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue for the last 4.5 years — a dream job, one I never thought a Brown girl from small town Louisiana might hold.

I am so incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and what we accomplished. Our journalism has won major awards. (cont’d)

Absolutely over the moon that Nini Berndt's Split Lip story made it onto the Distinguished list in Best American Short Stories! I think this might be a first for our mag. A HUGE milestone. From the moment I read it in our queue, I knew WINGDINGS was very very special. I love it so.

Had a truly glorious time back at Harvard for the 60th anniversary of the Michael C. Rockefeller Fellowship. I try not to indulge in nostalgia because I find it rather painful. But this weekend was full of beautiful autumn light, meaningful reflection, deep abiding community, and endless gratitude.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

It is time for @schumer.senate.gov to step down or be primaried. He doesn’t have the spine for this job. We need new leadership as soon as possible.
