Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. I'm here, with my favorite tree, trying to stay hopeful :)

We are about to have a book fair, and yesterday I woke up to Dr Angelou below my window #Coimbra

This is the other side of my favorite, wounded tree. As you can see, it's doing well. And today is Portugal Day. A cooler day, light rain, and then sun again. A storm brewing. There will also be singing #Coimbra #JardimBotânico

Hey, guess who made it to Coimbra. For those who don't know, I rescued Bird from the streets of Lafayette, LA, close to ten years ago. When I move, Bird moves too. The Bird abides

The power is back on in my neighborhood and in most other places in Portugal, I believe. Still no word that I've heard on exactly what happened. An interesting day

The Igreja de São Tiago, a hop and a step from where I live, has a small house for local street cats that mirrors the church's Romanesque architecture

A good turnout on a beautiful day for a protest in solidarity. Mostly Americans, but we got some honks from locals, especially a city garbage truck that went around the block several times! #handsoff

This is where I stay when I pass through London. Jealous, right?

Another night in London, back to Portugal tomorrow. I'm not living a dream, mine or yours. I'm doing what's necessary to survive. Just like you.

Backlit in my newly rented shoebox studio apartment. If I get my visa 🤞 I'll add some personal touches. Meanwhile I'm enjoying a private space, and having gotten this far

This is a discrete view of the men's bathroom at the hostel where I'm staying before I pick up my apartment keys tomorrow. Last night as a tourist? This hostel btw is a literal stone's throw from the old cathedral and belongs to them. Ah, if they only knew :) Also, I appear to be alone here

Y'all, I found an apartment. A tiny studio to be exact, which will suit me just fine, at least for a year. And then we'll see. Always assuming the visa application works out, of course. The street name means "Alley of Pleasures" and the 2nd image is the church next door. Make up your own jokes :)

The Jade Museum in San Jose, Costa Rica. A beautifully curated collection impressively housed. Brace yourselves for the fourth image :)
