A lot of y'all are talking about your preparations for the "Super Bowl", but has your proctologist recently expressed admiration for your "superb bowels"?

"Lonergan’s philosophy of history anticipates that, in situations like ours, things will get better before they get worse."

@jonathanrheaps.bsky.social on how Bernard Lonergan can help us make sense of our chaotic present:

Things Will Get Better Before They Get Worse
For Bernard Lonergan, the drama of human history is—even right now, even in the United States—in the process of being redeemed by God through grace.

Nobody had any idea how to sell video games in the 90s (and well into the 2000s) so a good chunk of game ads were just sex/masturbation jokes that told you virtually nothing about the game itself. The prime example being this absolutely unhinged Goemon's Great Adventure (N64) ad:

I missed out on these but I was a huge fan of Keebler Pizzarias

we were wild in those days, just pizzafying everything
Nabisco Minizza (1986-1987): Snack crackers made to look and taste like little pizzas. Each crispy, buttery "crust" was covered in tomato powder, oregano, basil, and real cheese. Debuted in October 1986, and sold primarily in Arizona, Texas, and Indiana. They were discontinued by summer of 1987

Imma be real with you guys the "TESCREAL" stuff is basically the libleft version of rightist paranoia over "Cultural Marxism", where you just smash together a half-dozen things that annoy you and go "these things are all connected and being pushed by a nefarious secret cabal of my political enemies"

It's 1990something and I'm wearing black: Black shirt, black pants, black jungle boots, with a black leather jacket or trenchcoat for good measure

I was not a goth; I would describe my style as "skinny redheaded fuckboy/moody theater kid/nihilistic hipster"
It’s 1990something and I’m wearing a floral dress and some combat boots along with a hemp necklace, or I’m wearing something from the Delia’s catalog.
It’s 1990something and I’m wearing Arizona carpenter jeans from JCPenney, a Jesus-themed parody wrestling shirt, a basic-ass pair of Nikes from Shoe Carnival and I’m trying to understand why I’m uncomfortable

A technology called X that slowly drives people crazy and makes them believe friends and colleagues have become part of a secret cult-like organisation called The Blob sounds like the plot of a high amphetamine consumption era Philip K Dick story rather than our current reality
