Discovered today that Instagram had turned on (without my opt-in) automatic AUDIO translation of any reel that shows up in my feed not in English USING AI TO MIMIC THE SPEAKER’S VOICE and WOW it was creepy and upsetting.
You can turn it off in “Language & Translations” in Settings. 🙅🏻♀️

HIVE MIND: there was a podcast episode I listened to a year or two ago where they interviewed somebody about how an injury led to opioid addiction, and what an incredibly good job their doctor did of helping them taper off without just ending the prescription like they were technically supposed to.

I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

Still processing this choice by @chicagomag.com. No matter how they couch it, they’re elevating an unapologetic bigot. There’s a lot of real estate between ignoring him and ranking him among the most powerful people in Chicago (ahem, Berwyn), and Chicago Magazine jumped over all of it, eyes closed.
Chicago Magazine named Nick Fuentes #7 in its list of Top 50 powerful Chicagoans of 2025.
