It’s always been plausible. A widely coordinated sickout isn’t necessary. A few scattered actions in strategic facilities could effectively disrupt the system. But unlike 2019 it isn’t clear which side would feel forced to “cave” if that happened. Perhaps that’s one reason why it hasn’t happened yet

More than a million federal workers have lost their collective bargaining and union protections. Trump has also cut wages and made working conditions worse.
