Hundreds of Starbucks baristas and labor organizers blockaded Starbucks' largest distribution center in York, Pennsylvania, halting distribution of syrups, coffee beans, and other supplies to the entire northeast.

This escalation is part of @sbworkersunited.org's ongoing strike.

this was not intentional, but makes me super happy: like, the writer I hoped to grow into when I was young was somebody I envisioned as writing about flowers on multiple continents
The mountain goats have explored flowers across 3 continents now

It absolutely is! And not to be too woke on main, but it comes from the fact that a lot of people hate or are embarrassed by their child selves, depending on how they were treated as a child, and are loathe to give that version of themselves any credit for anything positive they know or have become.
this is probably more common than we think

It would be cool if the Dem's asked their donors to open their pockets and help them feed people instead of just whinging about it on social media.

Ordinary people are doing more than the party that supposedly cares about its constituents. Get creative. People are hungry.
There is something deeply broken about an economy that creates trillionaires while people get buried under the cost of living and 42 million go hungry. The ultra-rich should realize that my Billionaires Income Tax, aimed at ensuring they pay their fair share, represents the moderate path forward.

Hundreds of thousands of people, dead because of a decision made by the world's richest man
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

actually doing revolutionary work means you also must contend with present material reality while building a movement for the future. it is hard to hold those two things at the same time without being subsumed by the former but not impossible

Lex's work is stellar and @teenvogue.com made a huge mistake in letting them go. Lex built the current credibility of political coverage of the Teen Vogue brand from the ground up. TV was one of the few worthwhile corporate publications left, and they just cut out their best reporter.
we have been covering this for months and months now, here (again) is my interview with @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social about this subject from Thursday @teenvogue.com

I have been saying this amid Platner mania, even before the Reddit posts: Democrats don't need to win over Trump voters or young men to win in Maine. They need to win older white women with college degrees who vote for Kamala Harris and Susan Collins. #MESen
Much of the Graham Platner discourse has been about his ability to bring younger men and disaffected voters back into the Democratic fold. But that's all felt a little divorced from the reality of what it takes to beat Susan Collins. I explore how she keeps winning and what that means for ME-Sen.
Is Graham Platner Solving the Wrong Problem for Maine Democrats?
What Susan Collins' 2020 win says about beating her in 2026.

I like the problem solving involved in crafting sentences and paragraphs. Why would I let an algorithm do that for me
“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡

Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.
