A major part of me says that this is a misrepresentation, or at least a simplification of the arguments surrounding the statement, ultimately overlooking both the problems with the education system and the role teachers play in it.
I’m neurodivergent and was kicked out of multiple schools by educators who didn’t understand me/couldn’t deal with me, and I still think “ACAB includes teachers” is both incredibly offensive and hilariously stupid

You’d think “rooting out diversity initiatives” is the kind of phrasing they’d only use to sugarcoat instating bigoted *hiring* practices, not straight up *firing* everyone who isn’t a cishet white guy from all positions of authority. And yet here we are.
I wouldn’t think “moved to root out diversity initiatives” is a useful phrase for journalism at all, but using it as a euphemism for a purge of high ranking black officers is downright Orwellian.
