Angela, the pussy hats weren't very effective. Knitting is cool, especially if you put resistance messages in it, but it's not resistance. It's performative. It's only actually effective if you're a spy and putting messages in or something. Otherwise it's a hobby, and the pussy hats were just silly.

This was a genuinely moving & heartfelt moment, part of a glorious day filled with youthful joie de vivre, diversity, great ‘fits, & 💕 music. It reminded me that what sometimes gets called performative DOES matter, when it signals safety & manaakitanga to a stranger, a guest.

Woe is me - because the supermarkets here no longer stock cornmeal (huh?) I ordered some online and since I had to pay for shipping I ordered two bags - and it’s fine cornmeal, aka cornmeal flour which IS available here anyway and all I want is to make crunchy cornmeal waffles sigh
