The programme for our 2026 festival is now online, yay! To celebrate, we took two minutes during our committee meeting today to discuss what events we're most looking forward to. www.wellingtonpridefestival.com/events

WPF - good at organising a festival, really really bad at making promo videos.

This is what Rainbow Windows of Wellington - and indeed all of Pride - is about. You are safe here, you are loved.
This was a genuinely moving & heartfelt moment, part of a glorious day filled with youthful joie de vivre, diversity, great ‘fits, & 💕 music. It reminded me that what sometimes gets called performative DOES matter, when it signals safety & manaakitanga to a stranger, a guest.
Every queer person deserves to feel safe 💚

The Auckland Pride 2026 Festival 𝗡𝗴ā 𝗨𝗿𝗶 𝗘! 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 takes its name from an understanding that to be an uri is not simply to inherit, but to carry forward. To hold responsibility as well as possibility.

“We’re trying to place our communities within the collective whakapapa…connect with people older than them so they have a sense of community” - great story about @aucklandpride.bsky.social (and we hope to do the same down here)

I was really proud to be an expert witness for @wellingtonpride.bsky.social last year, and really blown away both by their care and manaakitanga as well as the incredible calibre of the other witnesses. Such a useful resource in these expert witness statements, thanks Pride for sharing them!
BUT, since we were forced to do that, we recognise that the work our amazing expert witnesses put into their briefs of evidence is an important community resource. With their permission, we are proud to share these briefs on our website now.

In an update to our time at the Human Rights Review Tribunal:

As you know, we never expected to go to court over our right to hold an event where trans*, non-binary, intersex, and all gender minority attendees would feel safe, accepted, and supported to be themselves.

If we could give you a physical space for no cost for a couple of hours, what free community queer event would you like to put on in it?

A book club? Queer poetry reading? D'n D session for newbies? A meetup? Karaoke session? Heated Rivalry discussion group? Let us know!

(things are happening!)

Lulu wants attention and probably feeding, because her human has been too busy mapping out all the events y'all have submitted for the festival. No details yet but safe to say, we are very very very excited!
