So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Postwar attempts to rebuild American downtowns for the convenience of suburban drivers fail because cities cannot compete with the suburbs on ease of driving and parking; and attempting to do so destroys the vibrant street life that makes cities worth living in or visiting in the first place.
If your downtown still has many wide and fast one-way streets, then your priority is to move cars as fast as possible thru a weak downtown. It’s NOT to create a vibrant downtown, help downtown retailers, keep people safe, support walkability and accessibility, reduce pollution, etc. #TrafficSewers

when you think about it, the sheer amount of misinformation, defunding, stigma, and general bullshit people throw at bikes is a pretty good testament to what a powerful tool they are to change the world, and how deeply they could threaten our most toxic power structures if we let them.

This angle has been grossly underreported. Salah arranged for Frey to meet with state officials, using talking points prepared by FOF ring leader Aimee Bock. There was a full-court press to allege racism against the Walz administration to force the fraudulent payments to continue. Frey fell for it.
A former senior Frey aide - and my former colleague - Abdi Salah, will plead guilty today in the Feeding our Future fiasco. Salah was scheduled for trial next week in the second FOF trial, but a guilty plea will save Mayor Frey from the embarrassment of testifying against his former staffer.
