A cycling influencer nominated for a list of top 100 women cyclists said she has declined the honour due to the decision not to include trans women.

Bellum, Latin for 'war', is the origin of martial English words like 'belligerent', 'bellicose' and 'rebel'.

Bellum was a later form of the word. It had previously been duellum, before a 'DU > B' sound change, and Latin writers remembered and continued to use the old form too. This gave us 'duel'.

I collaborated with a library user on research regarding spies brought before the Scottish courts between WWI and WWII.

Spoiler: they tended to be pretty incompetent.
