I've made a critical error in reading The Power Fantasy 13 before finishing reading the rest of my stack of comics today.

The world I lived in before reading the end of that issue no longer exists.

I'm not sure anything else that I read this week can top this issue.

a word to comics people - I have been loving The Power Fantasy by @kierongillen.bsky.social and @casparw.bsky.social - it's very smart and fun and fast paced and issue #13 is a massive payoff that ends with a crazy "uhh now what???" scenario. Get on board if you're not already

My Local Comics Guy warned me to read the latest The Power Fantasy issue last because "you won't want to read more afterwards" and he was CORRECT. I am staring at the wall in silence. (positive)

Over halfway through with Kamen Rider Gaim. None of the five Rider shows I saw heretofore were this good at the melodrama, the underhandedness, the betrayals, the secrets. It elevates everything else about the show - we have so many glorious scumbag characters, and the fruit stuff kicks ass too.

Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

jeffrey epstein won't see your jokes about how poorly written his emails were, but your barely literate friends also won't see them, because they can't read. fire away

I think my favourite example of a game security flaw was in the Firefly game where the Captain Reynolds outfit DLC entirely compromised your system. It was Malwear.

I have in my hands definitive evidence that my opponent has committed a world-historic evil. Evidence that, were it to be released to the public, would cause his supporters to abandon him and his entire world to crumble to dust. I therefore have no choice but to give in to every one of his demands

Had the same reaction. Did I miss something where everyone rich and famous sends emails that are incomprehensible gibberish?
Seen a few of the epstein emails now, all with different people and it's not the main issue here but is everyone illiterate

Having an absolute blast with Kamen Rider Gaim. You can tell this is a Gen Urobuchi show, because the protagonist is shellshocked and traumatized by his encounter in the Fruit Dimension by the middle of episode 4

Reading the 2006 Gargoyles run. So cozy to be back in this setting with all new content I've never experienced before. Neat that Weisman & co are free of children's show censorship and can cut loose a bit

Dems saw that their thanksgiving flights would be delayed and that they would be slightly inconvenienced, so they immediately rushed to the congressional chambers to cave in exchange for pure delaying actions, so all this shutdown hurt was for nothing

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Happy Mamdani won, but the Democratic establishment's reluctance to support the Democratic nominee has basically killed any desire I had to take 'blue no matter who' seriously. While plenty of party figures supported him, far too many im/explicitly supported the sex pest playing 3rd party spoiler.

The Baileys aren't Chuck Schumer's excuse for inaction

They're psychic entities in the astral plane, thoughtforms of pure malevolence that only Chuck can see. They have haunted him his entire life

When he says "What am I supposed to tell the Baileys?," he is afraid.

Their True Name is unutterable
reading about Young Chuck is fascinating

If Democrats brush off a Nazi tattoo as an innocent mistake, they're abandoning the ability to make effective arguments against Nazis across the aisle. It'd be an unforced error that would taint the party for generations, and rightly so.

Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.
