This was not an isolated incident. Just this week, settlers destroyed nearly 500 Palestinian-owned olive trees near Susya, and the last remaining families of Ras ‘Ein al-‘Auja, once home to about 800 people, were forced to flee after months of relentless violence. (2/3)

I've been turning this over in my head all day. I don't feel harmed when people compare the present to what Jews in Europe went through. I think it's a reasonable comparison

I would like you to consider that your interpretation of our request ("we believe that it is harmful to make Anne Frank, an individual, the universal symbol of suffering under oppression") may be influenced by the trope that Jews believe we are separate and above others. We don't believe that.

They deserve to be remembered.
But, maybe, don’t treat this like a zero-sum game where it must be “reclaimed” from Jewish people.

After executing Alex Pretti on Saturday, ICE has shifted to primarily targeting bus stops and elementary schools in my community this week. I cannot overstate how much of the ICE activity in my community is just targeting places where little kids are.
Video from this morning shows ICE agents deploying tear gas outside a Minneapolis preschool as parents shout, “This is a preschool! There’s kids here!”

Two weeks ago I taught a couple of classes of Holocaust education at our local elementary school. One of the teachers commented, "So many of these children will never meet a survivor. How cool that your grandparents taught you so much"
and I wanted to gouge out my own brain, not cool at all

It's always very weird to see so many of you talk about Holocaust survivors like they're these pure and innocent cardboard cutouts that say "victim" on them when literally anyone who grew up around survivors knows they were all insanely fucked in the head due to their trauma.
