As a response to the far too numerous recent references On Here to "moneylenders in the Temple" (usually meaning Trump), here's a thread about why that phrasing is not merely incorrect, but a carryover from medieval Christian antisemitism & actively harmful to Jews today. 1/

Safe and warm at the Marriott Homesuites. Lots of people here with their pets, in case anyone’s still looking for shelter.

My husband and I went out for dinner last night. One of the waitstaff called us “cute”. Does this mean we’re so old we’re going to drop dead soon?

Ah, man. Bob Weir. I’ll miss him and his ponytail. Well, I’ve already missed his ponytail for a long time, but you know what I mean. We all get older, and at some point we die, but this makes me sad.

At least this person is honest about what’s behind all the “fake Christian” arguments. Inventing neologisms is soooo important.

It’s too late where I live. What used to be a slow, relaxing experience has turned into bustle and waiting in line. To which I say, if Christians want to eat out on Christmas they need to keep their own restaurants open.
Christians, stop appropriating our Chinese food Christmas tradition. Go home and worship your tree or whatever

Just sitting here listening to the Animals’ version of “Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” which is 90 seconds long. Whatever happened to short songs that have days of meaning in them?

I’m Ender-critical. Orson Scott Card is a lousy writer.
I'm lender-critical. Charging interest is against the Torah
I'm sender-critical. Don't email me, it finds me horribly.

Because this week has not yet been terrible enough: word is that Jim Stringer of the Austin String Band has died.

Chag Hanukkah sameach. I’m hoping for a year of so much light that no one—no one—has to be resilient.

Man, Todd Snider and Raul Malo in one month is a bit much. I can’t say anything about Malo’s music that hasn’t already been said, but I can’t say anything testify that he was a genuinely nice and kind person. He will be missed.

So I broke a toe this morning, just in time to not cook for thanksgiving. I have an enormous boot to hobble around in. Life is interesting.
