this reminds me of the first year philosophy lecturer I had who talked to us at length about “torts”, making us wonder if we’d accidentally turned up to a law class. when he finally wrote it on the board it became clear he was referring to “thoughts”
one of the memories of my youth that is most strongly imprinted in my memory is the time my college Russian class got derailed because the professor, a really smart dude who spoke like four language but was non-native in english said “hypo-poh-toe-moose” and nobody could figure out what that was

should add that with regards to this particular business that every time I frequented it in the 1990s and early 2000s I was drunk and on foot or from about 2010 on was either in or visiting the hospital (no car required)
