Bluesky was literally meant to be a cryptobro social network for grifters, LinkedIn sludge, and libertarians who know way too much about age of consent laws.

Jack Dorsey *left* when instead of weird and off-putting cryptonerds, trans people started hanging out here.
Can you think of examples where people use technologies differently from what the developers intended, whether unintentionally or as an act of resistance?

This is the Gov looking for your input on the BBC. It takes a while to complete (15/20 mins) but it’s pretty comprehensive and covers most aspects.

Please share. I’m surprised many people haven’t seen it yet.

Seeing an English TERF celebrate a doctor being run out of town for being trans, and thinking about that post saying that maybe the rest of the world is fine in Children of Men while Britain just decided to be like that.

I've just tuned Gold Radio back into my car radio, and I blame @andrewhickey.500songs.com.

Also yes, I still listen to radio in the car because they play music for me so I don't have to choose. And they pay royalties!

Jaywalking in the United States is a made up "crime" that was literally a psyop campaign....

funded by automakers

because their cars were killing pedestrians

So they turned it back around on the victims. "Jay" was a negative slang at the time for someone who was a gullible rural person.
I'm not especially opposed to driverless cabs, but I'm fucked if I'm giving up my ancestral British right to cross the road anywhere if it's safe for me to do so. "Jaywalking" isn't a thing or a crime here, techbros, so your magic cars will have to learn to deal with that.
Politics London discussing driverless taxis casually referring to “jaywalking pedestrians”.

Jaywalking is not a thing in UK law.

Transport for London and Government had better not be asleep at the wheel on this.

So even if you pay your license fee and a Sky subscription with sports you can't watch any FA Cup today without a third subscription/fee.

Being in the Epstein files and not being immediately fired is crazy. People were fired for posting Charlie Kirk quotes verbatim after his death. People were fired for being black women. For saying genocide is wrong.

Continually astounded that the sex-abuser, xenophobic, narcissistic, space nazi villains in my juvenile, briefly published space opera were in fact NOT TOO CARTOONISH AT ALL.

"The abolition of gender studies is a way of further guaranteeing impunity to the elite men whose contempt for and exploitation of women & girls apparently knew no bounds, whether they actually slept with the women on offer or simply shared Epstein’s fantasies in order to gain influence or funding."

Dude regularly works for Disney, DreamWorks, Netflix and CN so speculate away. But this sucks no matter which studio is doing it, and gross to think some major movie this year is running with a plagiarized image from ChatGPT.

A historian colleague of mine once blew someone’s mind after he asked “can’t you just look that up online?” and she replied “who do you think finds that stuff and puts it online?”

The boring answer is that we didn't invent milkshakes, just imported them, boring name and all.

Mind you, we're still responsible for the abomination that is "beefburger".

For clarity, and for those not grasping how obscenely overblown the scenario, or the extent of the misrepresentation.

Counting only written complaints, the NHS in England alone received 256,777 in 2024-25.

4.5 complaints per 1000 people.

Tavistock trans services received 0.06 per 1000 patients.
The entire Tavistock scandal was over 8 complaints. They've fucked the entirety of trans and non binary peoples, because of 8 complaints, all of which have not materialised into anything as far as I can tell.

Half my timeline is authors saying they can't make a loving and the other half is them warning about scams. Seems the scammers don't know about the "we have no money" thing. 😏 (But I guess they are playing on that desperation.)
This is genuinely scary now. The plausibility still falls apart like wet paper as soon as you look into it, but considering how far this scam has evolved in what, three months, I absolutely dread where we'll be by this time next year.

Seriously, the number of artists talking about how bad it is out there is unprecedented, and it's not like we've been quiet about it for the past, IDK, decade, at least. There are no day jobs out there for us to get, and the arts are paying less and less and/or being killed by AI.
