I think anyone would be excited about innovative tech that's useful or solves a problem. Want your dishes clean with less labor? Dishwasher. Want to make calls when you're not home? Mobile phone. But why would you want an invasive computer program that lies to you and kisses your ass?

I recently walked for 6 hours through several inches of endless mud to view the Goldsworthy installations in Rosedale, so there really is art in the countryside. But I think the mud is also worth a mention.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Let me tell you a tale of how completely the normies have been mobilized. My 14 year-old niece has done School of Rock for the past 5 years; last summer she was part of their touring band, and the kids loved playing together so much that they decided to keep doing it. (1/?)

In all seriousness—what sucks about being a slow, thoughtful, methodical engineer is that more and more, biz doesn’t care about software quality, dev understanding, or maintainability. Slow is all bad. No nuance.

A complication of AI-assisted coding: developers (even if they’re being careful, checking everything, etc.) are moving too fast to develop mental maps of their projects and remember their design and architectural choices, making it harder to explain those choices or make changes in the future

LLMs do not understand, will not understand, and cannot ever understand information. It's a glorified search engine combined with auto-compete, and you should treat it as such. No matter how much LLM companies try to tell you their machines can think or reason, they cannot and will not.
