I was thinking how when Scott Adams was about to go and rightwingers were saying “you have no idea what impact it’s going to have when Scott Adams dies, he was loved by millions” and then he just died and nothing happened. These ghouls just disappear when they stop talking
Remember when Charlie Kirk got shot and the right was like "THIS IS CIVIL WAR!" and three weeks later he was completely forgotten about? That's going to be most all the rest of these assholes too

And I didn’t see ONE Dilbert cartoon posted in tribute. No one was like, “all time favorite gag! Hung this on every cubicle I had!”
It’s like his whole body of work evaporated years ago
Sorry to be Radical Left but I don't think we should put people who haven't committed a crime, and aren't even accused of committing a crime, into any sort of "Detention"

fascinated by the adults on tiktok who have convinced themselves they were part of an 80s CIA program for gifted kids. one lady was like “don’t you remember how the rooms were painted light brown and they smelled like stale coffee and cigarettes?” like…babe? that’s every room in the 1980s
I say this regularly. People use performative as a substitute for 'inauthentic' and we could all just say the words we mean to say. Erving Goffman helps us to understand that we perform all of the time in real life. Life itself is often a performance of self.
People have worn out "performative." We often perform things that are real, you know. Posting is a kind of performance of one's politics. Performative doesn't actually mean "fake" or "empty," it just gets deployed that way. We actually need performance. Case in point: last night's performance.

"About Edward: Looking for a younger woman who will mistake my brooding looks and condescending misanthropy for tragic torment, and ideally is into employer-employee roleplay."
The fact that Bad Bunny's halftime show made white bigots angry and feel excluded is A GOOD THING. It's one of the best things about it. It's not a problem to solve. It's a solution to pursue. Bigots *should* feel excluded. We should find *more* ways to celebrate the reality of USian diversity.

The right will act like nobody has ever heard of someone like Bad Bunny, who has sold billions, then insist some shitty right wing band at a TPUSA event is the Beatles. They’re a bunch of weirdos and we ought to say so.

when pop culture no longer caters to your specific demographic you can accept that the world constantly changes or you can, I dunno, enact a fascist takeover of a country in the futile hope of forcing everyone to like the things you like

jack asked if i would sketch up a poster to tell people in nearby neighborhoods about the partnership between flock and ring, and this is what i came up with. it can be printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

It’s hard to overstate how much the culture here revolves around patriotism, and it’s such an incredible relief to see REAL American values on display here. It was COLD yesterday, too, especially for southerners!

I live in a military town in North Carolina and there’s one main intersection where small protests occasionally gather. In the past it’s always been pro-life people with big Bible verses and such, but yesterday it was a group with anti-fascist and anti-ICE signs. Seems like a hell of a vibe shift!

My grandfather farmed for 55 years, longer if you count time spent with his father, who bought the land around 1900. He was a quiet, generous, sober & cautious man. I’m only slightly exaggerating when I say if he saw that he’d shoot the television.
There's a ChatGPT ad about a family farm where the owner says her family has been doing this for a hundred years and she doesn't want to be the one to screw it up and that's why she's getting advice from ChatGPT and, my God, can you people hear yourselves?

Sorry for being nosy but I’m in a pretty quiet airport. a woman sat down next to a much older pilot here in the food court and started very obviously flirting with him but he absolutely cannot stop listing off aviation facts to her regardless of whatever question she asks him
