I wish more programmes focused on the unfairness we are collectively inflicting on young people as @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com and @bbcnewsnight.bsky.social do here. My grown up children watched with a weariness and I watched with anger and guilt. We need much more attention on the young.
“I do not think this is a moral thing for you to do...”

Martin Lewis shares his message to Chancellor Rachel Reeves on her decision to freeze the threshold at which graduates begin to repay their student loans.

Not the most important issue by any means on a shocking news day, but slightly distracted by the dog belonging to the chap being interviewed on @channel4news.bsky.social by @cathynewman.bsky.social rejecting an excellent looking bed for the sofa

This was in my Christmas stocking. Forensic and shocking- even though I thought I knew the ins and outs. Good to see former colleagues Jane French and Matt Bardo referenced. A reminder of how the odds are stacked against decent everyday people. Bravo @privateeyenews.bsky.social and Richard Brooks

So many questions. Who signed the contract for each side? Why wasn’t it disclosed ? How has it just come to light?

@rorycj.bsky.social is a good story teller - and I’m so pleased this worked for him. But what stands out is his description of the people who treated him - from all parts of the world. Everyone using the NHS and our care system should take note - and echo Rory’s thanks.

The BBC drama on #nazaninzaghari-ratcliffe is outstanding - extraordinary acting and writing. But mostly a portrait of a profoundly courageous woman and her family. The same could not be said of some of the politicians involved.

At a time when the BBC is under fire I would gently point out that the work of exceptional journalists on Inside Out in the NEast ( along with colleagues on the Guardian) that led to hundreds coming forwards and finding the courage to speak.

This was flagged to me by a former colleague and it is an exceptionally thoughtful analysis of the BBC mess from Richard Ayre - and looks at some of the roots of the problems. It also flags the threats more political appointments might bring. Highly recommended podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/r...

The most frightening 30 minutes for a long time. Clutch failed on A1 near Leeds. Fortunately inside lane but no hard shoulder. Stood watching the traffic from behind crash barrier. Terrifying. Rescued by two lovely men from Egertons who spotted us on the roadworks camera. So grateful.
