Glorious morning at Westonbirt Arboretum. Colours were fantastic and range of dogs v entertaining !

The most frightening 30 minutes for a long time. Clutch failed on A1 near Leeds. Fortunately inside lane but no hard shoulder. Stood watching the traffic from behind crash barrier. Terrifying. Rescued by two lovely men from Egertons who spotted us on the roadworks camera. So grateful.

A while ago visiting the #v&a surprised to see the info for this gentle sculpture name check the baby but not his Mum. Cue post to #Tristramhunt with polite request for a rewrite. Popped in again and happy to see Christabel Cockerell RA , landscape and portrait artist, no longer an invisible woman!

Last night’s #bbcprom from @theglasshouseicm.bsky.social was a sell out. So brilliant that so many North East performers can get a national platform - and prove excellence doesn’t just happen in London!

Went to hear extraordinary Ukrainian musicians, Khrystyna and Sasha Mykhailichenko who found refuge in Northumberland. Now training at prestigious institutions, they came back to play in the village which has taken them to its heart. Mesmerising. 🇺🇦

Last autumn I had one last attempt to remove ground elder from a snowdrop bed. Just before I got to the end I got the phone call to tell me Mum was going into hospital. Sadly she didn’t come out. But I think she would be happy about the snowdrops today x

Christmas Eve. New pictures of my freshly minted great niece from New Zealand and a message from our daughter safely landed in Heathrow. The calm before the excitement is to treasure - and this year to think about the person who isn’t here to ask for “just a small sherry”. Merry Christmas Mumxx

The first child comes home today (he’s 21). I love Christmas!

Went to see our gorgeous daughter appear in the West End for the first time tonight. Completely baffled how a tiny thing who was too shy to go to “Music and Play” classes can belt out numbers in front of thousands. 🥰 The place was rocking by the end of the night. So memorable!

My first post here - my gorgeous daughter is touring in A Fairytale of New York …. And going to …. New York! She is having fun, living on the tour bus and playing her heart out each night. In a gloom ridden world it’s so, so lovely to see her happy.
