Last night was the worst bombing I have experienced in Kyiv since the war began. 7 hours of non stop aerial attacks across the city.

At a time when the BBC is under fire I would gently point out that the work of exceptional journalists on Inside Out in the NEast ( along with colleagues on the Guardian) that led to hundreds coming forwards and finding the courage to speak.

This was flagged to me by a former colleague and it is an exceptionally thoughtful analysis of the BBC mess from Richard Ayre - and looks at some of the roots of the problems. It also flags the threats more political appointments might bring. Highly recommended podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/r...

Visit to UNICEF nutrition centre in Gaza City.

Thank you to everyone working to get hunger levels down as part of the surge of lifesaving aid we’re now getting in.

So much more to do, but this is a start.

The most frightening 30 minutes for a long time. Clutch failed on A1 near Leeds. Fortunately inside lane but no hard shoulder. Stood watching the traffic from behind crash barrier. Terrifying. Rescued by two lovely men from Egertons who spotted us on the roadworks camera. So grateful.

The decision by Addenbrooks to withdraw funding from a nearby hospice as reported on @channel4news.bsky.social is infuriating. Our Mum died on a geriatric ward in Addenbrooks - totally the wrong place for her and us at the end of her life. This seems a short sighted, heartless move. Review Plse.

A lovely night at #thetynesidecinema listening to #peterflannery and watching a couple of episodes of the brilliant #ourfriendsinthenorth. The acting was exceptional ( shout out to the late #petervaughn) and the writing/directing an absolute landmark in British TV. Needs to be reshown!

This was utterly brilliant. Watched in the cinema tonight, terrific cast but #rosamundpike was superb - I loved the script from #suziemiller Thanks to #forumcinema in Hexham ( great to see the show without leaving home) and @nationaltheatre.org.uk for the live programming. Packed house.
'I am a woman, a mother, a judge.'

#RosamundPike makes her National Theatre debut as Jessica Parks in this searing examination of modern masculinity and motherhood.

#InterAlia plays in the #LytteltonTheatre from 10 July. Also in cinemas with National Theatre Live from 4 September.

The Gaza Famine is the world’s famine. A preventable, predictable famine.

Enough. Ceasefire. Open all crossings, north and south. Let us get food in, unimpeded and at massive scale.

It was very still & the sky was the dull silver of a mermaid's mirror. The swifts who nested in the thatch were leaving that night, flying to Madrid, then south, south, south across the Sahara, carrying tales of Old Fox’s cottage, tales of love, of sickness, of fear, of hope.
