Well, at least we can sleep well knowing they had to suffer through what is surely a painfully bad moviegoing experience ... 🙃
An insane, perfect encapsulation of it all:

The same day Trump’s agents kill a Veterans Affairs ICU nurse in broad daylight, the CEOs of Apple and Amazon join Trump to watch a private screening of a film about his wife directed by an alleged sexual abuser who was seen shirtless in the Epstein Files

A coworker took this from her apartment. I haven't seen a crowd this size before. Maybe the first Women's March? But it was much much warmer that day. ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA!

Is it just me, or has White House "border Czar" Tom Homan just dropped off the face of the Earth since it was revealed he was caught accepting bribes in a sting operation?

I wonder why? 🙄

If nothing else, tonight has shown me who a journalists that isn't worth trusting/following is ... 🙄
It’s old-fashioned to defend mainstream journalism these days but some of the most reliable reporting from people actually on the ground will be the AP and Reuters the next 24 hours. Your Substack journalist writing takes will be using frontline reporting from them.

Hell of a time to be defending "mainstream journalism" ... 🙄

Extra courageous to make such statements before shutting off comments, especially those that might contradict such statements ... 🙄

Just need to add (spoiler: nothing to do with the glorious Rick Astley-related discourse): I found this film to be surprisingly thoughtful, because of the various references to (an atheist/agnostic here) to the concept of faith. I found that to be more moving/powerful than the "whodunit." Kudos.
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

"Salo, or the 120 of Sodom." The movie's a masterpiece, but the subject matter is so disturbing that no one in the lobby after (myself included) seemed to want to make eye contact and have someone acknowledge him/her having attended it. 😐
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

Pretty sure the correct answer here is "Harry Dean Stanton."
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

Dude, you obviously need to do more drugs. It would likely help you see how fucking stupid this idea is.
All drug use outside palliative care should be criminalized and possession of dealer quantities should be punishable by death without appeal.

To make matters worse, never once a translation via subtitles OR dubbing. Like, what the heck is he saying?
Can't think of a single time the MGM lion advanced the plot of the movie in any way. Just needless jump scare

While there's no lies detected here, it doesn't explain the feverish resistance to his potential mayoralty. It's that resistance (and the literally millions of dollars that funds that resistance) that's worth exploring, not the (fairly obvious) reasons for his candidacy's popularity ...
