And the reality is just so, so much more complicated than that, and the simplistic framing misleads people into thinking they'll notice it happening to the people around them because the groups who do it are very obvious. They aren't, and it only takes the right cause/framing to hook almost anyone.

It's not a framing exclusive to Wired, a lot of reporting in the area has the implicit assumption that only certain people are susceptible/only certain groups do the indoctrination, and a site removing those people/groups will make it Safe Forever because they got rid of the people who are Wrong

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.

This weekend I'm at the Halifax International Security Forum, which — for the first time — has no official delegated from the U.S. government. I'll post some occasional thoughts from the Forum over the weekend, below 👇

I have some sympathy for the horror people felt. I became vegetarian for years after watching the sheep cull in the UK because of hoof and mouth.
The animal husbandry industry has long had issues with disease.
Conspiracy minded thinking sees a real problem and invents an easy target.

That third point is really important. The article again and again points out that people find their way in because of a horrific experience with the medical system.
Please hear me when I say that

1) these anti-medical woo birth movements have been a primary feeder into anti-vaxx eugenic movements

2) they pre-date the age of social media

3) they exist because we have not addressed medical sexism and specifically obstetric violence
Influencers made millions pushing ‘wild’ births – now the Free Birth Society is linked to baby deaths around the world

Problem solved.
"But unlike most social media apps, which have a minimum age of 13, Roblox allows younger children to use the platform. Since most children and young teens don't have an ID, they will need to submit a selfie to the platform for verification using a third-party AI scan"

Roblox is now requiring selfies, verified either with a government ID or through an AI review, to use its chat functions.

Skilled labour.
Your Thanksgiving gravy tastes better when you use union mushrooms. Let's give a huge thanks to workers like "Adan" who harvest mushrooms for Monterey Mushrooms under a UFW contract. On an average day, he picks 240-280 of the blue baskets you see in this vid. #WeFeedYou

I am so glad my children are grown and this isn’t something I have to deal with daily.
I am so angry for parents out there who do.
This kind of problem may have been covered in dei sensitivity training. In case anyone wonders why they have to go. It’s because some people are absolutely clueless
I forgot to say, earlier today I wrote about the catastrophically disastrous interview the Roblox CEO gave to the NYT about protecting children from predators. It's hard to overstate how badly it went.

Also Canadian roads could use some work. Pedestrians and cyclists would like a word.
Insane but true fact: making US roads as safe as Canadian, Australian, or European roads would save more lives than eliminating murder from the US.

Also not for nothing but the NYT needs to be checked as an enabler.
“Scientific orthodoxy “??!!!
this man has blood on his hands and everyone who supported him and excused him has blood on their hands and I do not want to hear a single fucking Democrat with any position other than "impeach and remove him immediately"

he and his MAHA movement are child killers
Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.

When some lose rights everyone is in danger.
The Notwithstanding clause is being used more often. Every time it is used it makes the next easier. All Canadians need to stop this now.
Just about 30,000 people have signed the TransAction Alberta petition against Bill 9 and Premier Smith's use of the Notwithstanding Clause to erase the rights of more Albertans this week.

Will you be signature 30,000? transactionalberta.ca
