The Labour party really ought to reflect on the fact that there have been few people in the last thirty years more influential on how it approaches foreign and domestic policy than Mandelson, a man consumed by greed and completely prostrate in the presence of the rich and powerful.
I'm not prone to exaggeration but this is probably the biggest scoop I've ever been involved in

Mandelson's partner took £10,000 from Epstein to pay for his osteopath course while Mandelson was de facto UK deputy prime minister, according to new files

This isn’t about convicting Don Lemon. It’s unlikely that will happen. It’s about intimidating journalists & making them censure themselves out of fear of consequences. It’s about eroding the free press because the administration can’t afford the criticism.
This just in: "Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards," Lemon's attorney Abbe Lowell says.

it is really important to recognize that the administration does a lot of things that are terrifying and dangerous and at the same time stupid and counterproductive

arresting journalists is very bad and also this will end in humiliation for them
the practical effect of arresting lemon et al is to spark widespread condemnation, especially since these arrests will certainly be thrown out. this doesn't mean the action isn't a dangerous escalation, it does mean the white house doesn't know what to do but spam its only attack

Sure, it was the model that was ‘reckless.’
OpenAI says it's going to retire GPT-4o. Again.

This time, the move to sunset 4o comes amid a wave of lawsuits alleging that the sycophantic model pushed users into delusional and suicidal spirals, upending lives and causing psychological harm, self-injury, and death.

Amid Lawsuits, OpenAI Says It Will Retire "Reckless" Model Linked to Deaths
OpenAI will retire GPT-4o, an especially sycophantic version of its chatbot linked in lawsuits to multiple deaths, next month.

There are square films (5 reviews, all ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐)

There are horizontal films (they somehow manage to scrape one ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ and cite it exclusively)

There are vertical films (every review is ⭐)

And then there is this:

we all know that investors, far from being rational actors with perfect information, tend to be ignorant trend-chasing dipshits

but rarely is it so abundantly clear how little they know about an industry they are invested in

ohhhhhh okay so what we've learned from the epstein mail drop is that the entirety of the fascistic culture war since the 2010s onward was basically wholesale consolidated through the anglosphere bourgeois old boys club network of pedophile rapists
So apparently I was right to shittalk m00t this week because it's been revealed that his boneheaded decision to establish /pol/ and subsequently ruin the website was allegedly born out of a one-on-one meeting with Jeffery Epstein.

DELL CEO, Microsoft CEO, even Altman himself... All of them are trying to grasp the fact than even if a lot of people use Gen AI, most of them consider it as "fun tech that can be helpful sometime" but ultimately won't pay for it, or won't use it to the point it could... Well, replace them at work.

Nazi 4chan trolls and other APTs (Advanced Persistent Teenagers) have been photoshopping shit for years to insert disinfo into viral news cycles. AI is a problem 💯 but mostly bc no special skills are required. It’s easy, accessible & fast so quantity & velocity go 📈 but it’s already normalized
Unfriendly reminder, AI is being used to destroy trust. Do not normalize the use of AI. AI can not reliably enhance videos or low-quality images.

This is the quiet replacement of reality. Do not let this be normalized.

Just think if we’re giving labour mps credit for gestures like signing support for trans history week it just reduces pressure on them to Actually do anything. They ought to be confronted by their hypocrisy and to defy it will take a fuck of a lot more than wishing for our “dignity and respect“

the speed at which these guys have broken everything has given a lot of folks who should know better the impression that they are an unstoppable force and the only option is to negotiate the terms of surrender

just because the clown car goes very fast does not mean it isn’t full of clowns
Whatever the immediate fallout of the scandal, what is going to stick around is the impression it gives, of hapless idiots doing ridiculous things. And I think that seriously reduces the appeal of capitulating to these jokers.
