And just to add: it is possible to feed or help thousands without EVER posting about it on social media. It’s called building relationships of trust and it has been done in this work for centuries.

Do you think Harriet Tubman took out an ad in the paper?!

guy turns out to be exactly who a bunch of us Black women said he was: an American story
This is the stuff that marks someone as a danger.

Not even just that he intends to sneak back into an organizing space where he’s been told that he’s unwanted; the need to publicly brag about it, and make sure everyone knows.

You cannot do collaborative work with someone who only centers himself.

Had a long conversation about this today. Very important read.
This is a deeply important piece. "A tool meant to make D.M.V. data sharing frictionless for law enforcement agencies also acts like a privacy Trojan horse, because agencies don’t need just cause or a warrant to look at it."

If you are doing any form of service to people at risk right now, do not, under any circumstances, advertise it.

THIS! For the love of all things holy, think about what infor you're putting out there, where you're putting it, and how that info may be weaponized. Stop broadcasting all your thoughts and plans. Just do the thing that needs to be done to help people and leave it at that.
If you want to get your ass followed by the Feds to your undocumented neighbor’s house when you deliver that food, and see that neighbor get arrested and deported, please continue.

There has never been a more critical moment to understand that what you post on social media can get people killed.

This is important.

SHEAR—the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic (a GREAT organization)—is tracking examples of the regime erasing history.

Republicans are in here cosplaying as protectors of women and children, but they were silent when Renee Good was killed, willingly voted to cut SNAP, and are now sitting by as ICE rips children away from their families.

Miss me with the selective outrage.

This whooole thread.
Lots of regular degular, never-done-an-activism folks have been activated in recent months and are working alongside a bunch of seasoned, die-hard, been-tired-for-ten-years-or-more organizers, and you don't know all of those stories bc most people are moving with a bit of discretion in these times.

Remember how you used to hear, "the cruelty is the point"? That hasn't changed. The goal is still to cause harm and benefit from it.
it's grim, but the reality is that Trump wants more innocent people to die here in the Twin Cities and the GOP majorities in both chambers of Congress are either ambivalent about more lives being taken or outright support it

A lot of wisdom being dropped here about deescalation. At artful protests I organized in the early 2010s, where people showed up expecting a family-friendly vibe, we sometimes had folks who were bloc'd up who I had to talk to. They always heard me out because we had mutual respect. They knew me.
And if you realize you are out of your depth, you call someone over who CAN be nonreactive and calm and de-escalatory, or someone who is simply a more trusted messenger.

It doesn't matter if it's black bloc or some guy who's off his meds.

This is part of the work.

It takes practice.

Yesterday was the first anti ICE protest in Irmo, SC. It was an overwhelming success. An estimated 75 Americans from Irmo, Chapin, and Lexington came together yesterday to say Enough is Enough. This will be the first of many protests coming to the Irmo area soon. So stay tuned!

This! The shift is possible and we need to keep pushing.
One way to think through the victory in Tarrant County, given that Rehmet ran in labor issues, is that the voters were offered two competing theories of solidarity and chose collective bargaining over white supremacy as their mode

This shift is possible and important to aim for

African nations make up a striking share of the countries swept into the Trump administration’s new freeze on immigrant visas.

The 26 African countries include Somalia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, and Ghana. https://capitalbnews.org/ghana-us-immigration-visa-freeze/

Twenty-seven African nations are included in a U.S. visa freeze, even as many have helped enforce Washington’s deportation agenda.

There is this thing about the way folks are dogpiling eachother here lately that smacks of a desire to get out their rage at feeling impotent about the actions of the regime somewhere, anywhere.

It is a much more worthwhile strategy to take that rage into organizing your friends and neighbors.

This is how authoritarian narratives work you smear the victim, praise the armed agent, and ignore the killing. No video justifies an execution. No insult erases due process. This is propaganda, not accountability.

A lot of folks seem to not understand how federal elections work. They are run by states and localities, and federal elections are on the same ballots as state elections.

Think through how hard it would be to “steal” an entire set of midterms.
