I just got a YT commercial about the exciting new plot and characters at Medieval Times. Sounds more like a renaissance to me…

Head cold means I got no work done yesterday. But this morning the drugs are working and my brain is working, so here’s to a productive day…

Written 189 words so far.

I want a North and South miniseries written by Emma Thompson and directed by Joe Wright.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I’m fighting something off and I cannot afford to lose my steady productivity ahead of my Dec 1 deadline. Here’s to drugs and sleep… please work, please?

We’re a taco soup and leftover tamales family.

But what I really care about is Christmas breakfast: sausage balls and monkey bread. It’s not Christmas without it. I care more about that than any other food traditions.

Do other people have designated Christmas breakfast?
it fascinates me how most everyone in the U.S. does turkey for Thanksgiving, but we are all over the map as to what we eat for Christmas (as is proper for a hugely diverse nation).

I come from a Christmas prime rib roast family, myself.
I also use the bacon method. Although turkey is Christmas dinner where I come from.

A national bond that transcends race, religion, politics and class is our shared agreement that the Muppets are real. They are real people with jobs and lives. Listen to that crowd screaming. They know they're seeing a celebrity.

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
'Cause the welcome will not end
Though it's hard to let you go
In the Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long
To live as friends

If you need a good cry (in the good way), might I suggest Train Dreams?

Beautiful and devastating. And I don’t think anyone does contemplative and haunted quite as well as Joel Edgerton.

Started Down Cemetery Road and this pilot has me locked in. Emma Thompson in her badass idgaf era. Ruth Wilson as a mostly well-meaning but nosy neighbor - whose nosiness actually feels understandable. Plus spy thriller / conspiracy plot. By the Slow Horses folks. Will it be a Program? TBD.

I joke that I live in my Christmas tree during this time of year.

My living room is about 11.5 ft across & the tree sits against one wall. This year’s tree has a radius of… 4.5 ft.

It is truly absurd, no argument from me. We all have our nonsense, and I have no shame that this is mine.

Something about having a well lit, decorated Christmas tree immediately makes me want to read more.

I think my follow through for reading - especially “serious” books - is directly proportional to my level of cozy stimulation.

Religion is what you do with it.
NEW: Churches in Charlotte are hosting trainings on how to response to ICE agents — with *hundreds* filling pews.

At one training, a child led those gathered in "This Little Light of Mine" — but changed the words to “All around Border Patrol, I’m gonna let it shine" religionnews.com/2025/11/20/a...
As ICE descends on Charlotte, faith leaders draw on other cities' actions to aid immigrants
(RNS) — As many as 500 people, a mix of clergy and other volunteers, have appeared at the training sessions on how to counter ICE.

A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

For my personal list (not necessarily making a cinematic argument), I’d include Women Talking.
if i name movies about Christianity like Silence, The Passion of Joan of Arc, The Last Temptation of Christ, and The Gospel According to St. Matthew, what others would you add to that list?

Jesus's whole ministry is asking, in part: what it is to be strong? where is our strength? Who has power, and what, if anything, is earthly power? heavy questions, not answerable by "power is dominance" (per Jesus, it is not!)

I think we need to make a really sharp divide in our hearts between people who we'll encourage if they're standing outside the tent, doing damage to the other side, and people who get invited inside when they still have their knives out for the folks who are already here.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.
