A preorder link is live! 😊 If you would like the book and can preorder, that is a *huge* help, but if you can't, I completely get that. The best thing you can do in that case is request that your university or local library orders a copy - that helps sales, too! mcfarlandbooks.com/product/news...
There is a book cover and an official title for the #Newsies book, and I am so incredibly delighted!!! ❤️ Preorder links should be available very soon, and I will share those as soon as I can.

Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all what’s being done to us.

They’re still trying to deport Liam Ramos, for god’s sake. They will admit no wrong for executing Renee Good or Alex Pretti. We’re still having to feed and house tens of thousands of families, many legally in the country, because they are unsafe going outside. This has been going on for two months.

US military aid to Ukraine was the single most effective military spending we’ve had since aiding the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan. We reduced Russia’s military by like half for circa five percent of the annual Pentagon budget. That’s a goddamn bargain.

And Trump has spoiled it.

The sort of chronic state violence & lawlessness that can only be described as fascist.
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

I keep harping on this, but I want to make sure anyone doing good work going through the Epstein Files remembers: there is no doubt much of these Files will be taken down and further redacted. The DOJwill likely request the Internet Archive remove these.

Save anything you find locally, always.
looks like the DOJ has wiped the PDF that names Blackstone CEO Larry Fink's son Joshua Fink from the Epstein Files (thanks @robschmied.bsky.social for flagging this!)

www.justice.gov/epstein/file...

you can still find it here, thanks to the internet archive!

A lot of people really don’t realize that there is a vast amount of information out there that is not online and plausibly never will be, or can’t be.
I think that's a point that will surprise a lot of people. There's a lot of calling the internet capable of accessing "the sum of all human knowledge" and such that I think gives people the impression that any and all records exist online somewhere.

Hello, friends! I have a student in a class who is searching for an external examiner for her undergraduate Honors work. She is focused on surrogacy and reproductive justice in Europe and the U.S. There is a small honorarium available for a prof who can help! Let me know.

Well, fuck.
“The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill recently rolled out a new policy that permits university officials to record classes without notifying the instructor. It’s a practice administrators have used in the past to investigate professors but have now formalized in writing.”
UNC Admin Can Now, Officially, Secretly Record Faculty
The new policy prohibits students from recording class without permission but explicitly allows administrators to surveil professors for any “lawful purpose.”

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.

On this day in 1920, Idaho ratified the 19th Amendment, which prohibited sex-based disenfranchisement. All I want for 2028 is a fourth installment of the "Before" series, telling us where Jesse and Celine are 15 years from the last film. Bceause "Before Midnight" was so incredibly acted and well done, but it was also fucking painful, and I need them to be happy. #BeforeSunrise
