The popular idea is that the Nazis were elected and then Germany was a dictatorship. Nope. The Nazis never 'won' an election. (They became the largest party in Reichstag - different.) Germany was still a democracy, or a semi-democracy, for quite some time after Hitler was *appointed* Chancellor.
