It has always been so obvious that the backlash to MeToo isn’t about whether the abuse is happening but whether people are allowed to want it to stop

we need a word for a type of person who spends all their time working to live in a city so they can be near cool things, but they don't actually like going out

the basic issue is that people want to seem brave by protesting but they don't want to face any actual danger, so they protest things which can't actually change anything because it's safe
They got what they wanted. Kamala Harris lost the election, and Trump is president. So, what do these protesters want now, and why aren’t they protesting Donald Trump?

Two lawsuits allege that Jay McGraw, son of Dr. Phil, is the “principal beneficiary” of tribal lender Minto Money.

CreditServe, a company that McGraw plays a key role in, controls the operation while “the Tribe is merely a front,” the suits said.

A 700% APR Lending Business Tied to Dr. Phil's Son Is Dividing an Alaska Tribe
Tribal lender Minto Money has boosted the economy of its Alaska town. But some tribal members are appalled by the millions it's made off desperate borrowers -- much of which, lawsuits allege, has gone to outsider Jay McGraw, son of Dr. Phil.

The funniest part of this is acetaminophen is the (perfectly safe) drug. Tylenol is a *brand*, and by attacking the brand and not the drug, the US government has just given Kenvue a massive gift when this goes to court.

Their lawyers are likely drooling right now.
So I'm assuming that financial journalists are hard at work figuring out who in the administration shorted Kenvue today, right?

As you cancel streaming services, here is a casual reminder that only 16% of Americans read for pleasure anymore, and your local library has hundreds or thousands of books you haven't read.

They would love to see you stop by and renew your library card.

Black parents need to check their kids too.

This shit has infiltrated hip-hop and has deep connections to streamer communities too.

That this thread was posted by a sitting U.S. Senator is... notable. This isn't speculation. Miller is being clear about his (and the Trump regime's) intention to use the tragedy in Utah to delegitimize, demoralize, and further disempower the opposition party. The hypocrisy re: free speech is acute.
Pay attention. Something dark might be coming.

The murder of Charlie Kirk could have united Americans to confront political violence. Instead, Trump and his anti-democratic radicals look to be readying a campaign to destroy dissent.

1/ Here's what's happening.
Stephen Miller: "The last message that Charlie Kirk gave to me before he joined his creator in heaven was he said that we have to dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence. That was the last message that he sent me ... we are gonna do that."

The lack of mainstream coverage of regular huge protests reminds me of a talk from a Twitter employees who explained that they had to drop BLM off the Trending Tags section because otherwise it would have been there permanently. The modern media environment has no appetite for sustained movements.
