Thrilled to see this chapter and book out in the world finally!

The first edition of this book, published over a decade ago, was a pioneering collection of awesome, field-defining research and scholarship that was super important to me as I was working on my PhD.

If it does burst, I wonder how our administrations in universities are going to justify their all-in-no-questions-asked attitude to incorporating AI into every aspect of university life, whether needed or not, whether harmful or helpful

Just got home to find the first of two books I have coming out this year (!) has arrived!

This has been years in the making, dreamed up during COVID, developed under multiple governments, edited during ongoing wars, and finished after one of the editors, Geoff Hinchliffe, sadly passed away.

Under a month until the 2nd edition of the Routledge Companion of Mobile Media comes out! The 1st edition was such a brilliant collection that was a vital resource when I was doing my PhD, so it's really wild to me that a decade later I've got a chapter in this with the brilliant Crystal Abidin.

Anyway just flicking through the Sunday newspapers reading about some minor content infractions that Ofcom might look into at the BBC/Channel 4.

During the pandemic lockdowns, I began chatting to some of my colleagues about what an odd time the pandemic was for citizenship, and how education could respond to the uncertainty of the moment we were in. (1/4)

I see it in real time everyday. I study teenagers in particular, but we overestimate our media literacy. In some places in the US (most) we allow kids to exits k12 with nothing but a “don’t give your info to strangers” media literacy education.

Truly awful reporting here by The Guardian. The fact that 38 men in the manosphere thought that it was just banter and open debate shouldn't be reported as 'overblown fears'
Society may have overestimated risk of the ‘manosphere’, UK researchers say

Management could end this. Tens of people remain at risk and are undergoing a brutal process unnecessarily.

Lest you think full on strike action is excessive for a handful of people: we would go out even for a single person. We are all safe, or none of us are.
