Smart House used to be a wide-eyed, optimistic look into what technology in the 2000s might be able to do for us. By this point, it has gone from a cautionary tale to a full-on horror movie that continues to be one of the best DCOMs they ever did.
NEW EP: SMART HOUSE (1999) w/ Ross Benes

One of the best DCOMs ever made, it's time to have an existential crisis about how many people have completely ignored the dangers of letting a supercomputer control every aspect of your life!

World Without Exploitation is a coalition of nonprofits, including many “sex trafficking awareness” orgs that are also anti-sex work. The movement to #standwithsurvivors cannot lead to meaningful change without also supporting sex workers’ labor rights. Solidarity is everything. #decrimnow

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.

Sorry, I can't watch the BIG GAME. I going to be busy watching videos of these tiny frogs that suck at jumping for the next 3-5 hours.

Always a joy to join the Matts, especially something like Death Ship which has a lot more going on than practical effects, haunted boats, and Nazi ghosts. There is deep intentionally to why there is so much suffering in DEATH SHIP that goes beyond many haunted or even horror movies in general.
Do we need exploitation cinema to remind us of half-forgotten, real-life horrors? That’s the big question in this week’s episode with @harmonycolangelo.bsky.social, who joins the podcast to talk about ghost Nazis and DEATH SHIP.

This week's episode turned out to be one of my favorites we've recorded thus far. I think, humbly, it showcases the show's range.

What starts as a lighthearted conversation with @harmonycolangelo.bsky.social about bartending becomes this meaty analysis of a "ridiculous" movie with so much meaning.

I love having @harmonycolangelo.bsky.social on the show. She’s just so effortlessly and unassumingly SMART.

WWE crowds have been chanting for a desired return of decades long sex offender and proudly evil Vince McMahon.

Meanwhile AEW fans:
Wow! What sounded like the entire AEW Dynamite audience in Las Vegas tonight chanted "Fuck ICE! Fuck ICE!" in unison before the main event

DO NOT watch “MELANIA” movie as a “joke.”

DO NOT stream *or* pirate the MELANIA movie.

DO NOT “joke review” or post reviews for the MELANIA movie

It must whiter, and be forgotten

And AMAZON must suffer

Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

my takeaway is that going out to protests and organizing with your community like minneapolis has shown us and getting offline, where people are paid to parrot government propaganda, is the best action you can do and reminds you the average person isn’t insane or evil
